We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Driver
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Part-time
Main Purpose
Performing autonomously, complex / advanced servicing, maintenance and repair of MSF vehicles and other engines according to MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure vehicles are in perfect running conditions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Daily check the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), perform weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions.
Ensure the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules in order to avoid car accidents.
Communicate all movement departure and arrival to the radio operator and record passenger details in the movement logbook.
Ensure correct loading and unloading of the vehicle
Submit the documents to the receiver of the goods.
Checking the status of delivered goods
Returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensure that the goods have the necessary documents.
Ensure that the vehicle is always in good conditions following instructions and guidelines of Logbook and carry out a hand over if another uses the vehicle
Ensure that your driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
Ensure all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling and ensure non-MSF staff sign discharge of responsibility before using the vehicle.
Inform the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers or goods.
Inform (in advance) the radio operator & HOD when vehicle is about to be due for maintenance.
Know how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicate with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications.
Ensure each movement’s departure and arrival is reported to the radio and entered in the driver’s movement logbook (including trip starting/ending time & mileage, and names of passengers).
Ensure fuel refill details are entered in the fuel logbook.
Ensure details of maintenance services and repairs performed on the vehicle is recorded in the vehicle maintenance logbook.
Ensure the vehicle is cleaned every morning before commencement of day shift.
Adhere to MSF protocol for all movements.
Support and assist the mechanic during scheduled maintenances (Weekly checks, Services A, B & C)
Know and respect the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensure all passengers know and respect the security rules.
Monitoring traffic & security situation along movement routes while driving in order to inform radio operator with any updates that could help in security management.
MinimumRequired Skills and Qualifications
Education / Essential:
Minimum of SSCE qualification with ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
2 years minimum of previous driving experience
Desirable experience in MSF or other NGOs • Hold a valid driving license.
Experience:
Ability to drive both automatic and manual vehicles, buses etc
Good knowledge of locations and streets within the Federal Capital Territory Abuja and its environs
