Job Title: Voluntary Principles Consultant
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description
The Voluntary Principles Consultant is expected to support the delivery of program output on the voluntary principles in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States. The Consultant will be paid an agreed fee aligned with the deliverables for the engagement.
The successful organisation will work closely with the Project Team and the Country Management team under the supervision of the Country Director.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to Search for Common Ground in relation to project alignment to the voluntary principles.
Facilitate training for Search staff on voluntary principles and human rights.
Conduct a mapping of participants for the training of private security actors on the voluntary principles and human rights in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States.
Mobilize mapped and approved participants for the training of private security actors on the voluntary principles and human rights in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States.
Participate in post training evaluation aimed at assessing the impact of the training 3-4 months after the training is held.
Facilitate linkages of Search for Common Ground to in-country networks on voluntary principles and human rights.
Active programme presence in any of the project States comprising Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States.

Proficiency in the use of MS Office is required
Requirements
A bachelor's Degree in Finance, Administration, Arts, Humanities and social sciences.
Qualification in Conflict Resolution, International Relations, Project Management or related fields would be an added benefit.
Ability to provide staff who have at least five years of experience in supporting the implementation of Voluntary Principles in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States within the NGO sector.
Presence of any of the project states i.e Rivers, Bayelsa or Delta State is a compulsory requirement
Have supported implementation of similar projects in Niger Delta Nigeria
Have conducted similar training on voluntary principles and human rights
In-depth knowledge of the Rivers, Bayelsa or Delta States in Niger Delta Nigeria
Relevant experience working in the non-profit and NGO sector.
Substantial experience working with government officials, NGOs and communities;
Organisation Staff Requirements:
Good knowledge of the local languages will be an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills;
Ability to identify issues and to use sound judgment in applying technical expertise to resolve a wide range of problems;
Knowledge of other languages spoken in the states will be an advantage;
Strong command of English language, with excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal communication skills;
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace; and
Ability to prioritize, plan and organize workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
