Job Title: Lab Scientist / Analyst

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

• Our client is looking for a dedicated Lab Scientist/Analyst, ideally a recent graduate in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Industrial Chemistry, to join our team.
• The role involves performing chemical and biochemical analyses to test samples for compliance with industry standards, documenting variations in quality and composition.
• The Lab Scientist will prepare samples, handle chemicals and prepare reagents, operate laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate data reporting, playing a key role in maintaining product quality, supporting research and development, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical and biochemical analyses on samples (environmental sample) products or raw material to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Prepare and standardize chemical reagents, solutions, and other materials used in testing.
• Develop SOPs and work instructions as required for laboratory processes.
• Prepare samples, utilize advanced laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
• Carry out routine quality control tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
• Document and report findings in a clear, organized manner.
• Ensure the laboratory is maintained according to safety and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to support production processes and product development.
• Assist in developing new testing methods and improving current processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting (including internships and university lab work).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and software.
• Knowledge of industry regulations/standards
• Attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

Job Requirement:

• The job will require you to to have an excellent sense of smell, sight and taste.

Preferred:

• Membership with the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN) is an advantage.
