Job Summary
The Head of Corporate Services is responsible for ensuring organizational efficiency across human capital management, corporate communication, facilities management, and administrative support.
He/She sets and implements strategic objectives to align with the bank’s overall goals, focusing on operational efficiency, cost optimization, and regulatory compliance.
This role involves managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and providing strategic guidance to senior management.
The Head of Corporate Services is also tasked with driving continuous improvement, leading transformational initiatives, and fostering a culture of innovation within the department.
He/She represents the bank in external forums, ensuring a positive brand image and alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the COO and senior leadership to ensure corporate services initiatives are aligned with overall business goals, strategic priorities, and environmental and social governance (ESG) objectives.
Provide insights and recommendations on HR, administration, and communication matters during strategic planning processes, ensuring business process improvements align with operational goals.
Lead cross-departmental initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, staff engagement, and cohesive communication practices across the bank.
Implement initiatives to improve both internal and external stakeholder relations, ensuring transparent, effective communication at all levels.
Track and report on corporate services performance against strategic goals, driving continuous improvement in operations and employee engagement.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and talent development initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and workforce planning.
Establish HR policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance with employment laws, promote diversity and inclusion, and foster a positive workplace culture.
Ensure competitive compensation structures, monitor employee satisfaction and retention, and implement well-being and engagement initiatives to improve morale and reduce turnover.
Advise managers and employees on disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution, while overseeing compliance with labor laws, health, and safety standards.
Manage HR budgets, ensure cost-effective HR initiatives, and implement training programs to enhance staff skills, leadership capabilities, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) participation.
Supervise office management, facilities maintenance, procurement, vendor management, and asset control, ensuring efficient use of company resources.
Enhance administrative efficiency and cost-effectiveness by streamlining workflows, vendor management, and service delivery while ensuring regulatory and policy compliance.
Provide leadership, training, and performance feedback to ensure high standards in service delivery, staff development, and team productivity.
Oversee facilities and asset management, ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained work environment, as well as organized records and inventory control.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for better service quality and ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place for administrative operations.
Create and execute communication programs, including branding, advertising, publicity, and media management, to enhance the bank’s visibility, reputation, and brand positioning.
Advise on CSR initiatives and manage community engagement, while building positive media relationships and ensuring accurate, timely information dissemination.
Develop crisis communication strategies and manage internal communications to foster transparency and collaboration across departments.
Oversee the development of newsletters, press releases, and internal communications, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
Continuously assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and make adjustments to improve their impact on the bank’s goals and reputation.
Oversee office space management, facilities, and security services, ensuring they meet operational needs and the physical safety of employees and assets.
Develop and enforce policies to create a secure working environment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, ensure service level agreements are met, and develop cost-effective facilities budgets.
Implement space optimization strategies to accommodate growth, while incorporating energy-saving and sustainable practices aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
Oversee emergency response procedures and coordinate facility upgrades and renovations, ensuring operational continuity and crisis preparedness.
Oversee corporate services functions to ensure they operate within relevant legal, regulatory, and internal governance frameworks.
Establish internal controls and compliance monitoring systems to prevent, detect, and address governance-related issues.
Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all corporate services activities align with regulatory standards and governance policies.
Oversee the development, regular review, and enforcement of governance policies for HR, facilities, and communications, ensuring transparency in decision-making processes.
Lead internal audits of corporate services, manage the submission of compliance-related reports to regulatory bodies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Oversee the development of the corporate services budget, ensuring alignment with the bank's financial goals and efficient use of resources across HR, administration, communications, and facilities.
Track departmental spending to prevent overspending, conduct periodic reviews, and implement corrective measures where necessary.
Seek opportunities for cost reductions through process improvements, vendor negotiations, and efficient resource allocation, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
Implement financial controls to manage overheads and ensure that corporate services operate in a cost-efficient manner, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Work closely with the finance department to track, report, and forecast financial performance, providing strategic input on resource allocation to deliver measurable value.
Establish a procurement strategy that ensures cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services, while identifying opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring alignment with service level agreements (SLAs).
Oversee compliance with procurement policies, ensuring transparency in vendor selection, contract management, and legal adherence in third-party contracts.
Regularly review vendor performance and manage third-party contracts, taking corrective actions where necessary to ensure service quality and legal compliance.
Lead initiatives to automate and improve procurement processes for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Implement and enhance digital tools for HR management, administrative processes, and internal communications, ensuring alignment with the bank’s IT and business strategy.
Manage the deployment of HR information systems (HRIS) to streamline employee data management, payroll processing, and performance tracking.
Evaluate and integrate technology solutions to improve office management, procurement, and facilities maintenance processes.
Implement digital platforms to boost employee collaboration, transparency, and information sharing.
Champion data analytics to improve HR and administrative functions, automate routine tasks, and achieve operational efficiencies and cost savings.
Requirements
First degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
Minimum of (12) years cognate experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Professional certifications in Human Resources, Compliance & Risk Management along with membership in international compliance associations.
Proven experience in internal controls, auditing, risk management, ethics, and fraud awareness.
Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and implement effective contingency plans for managing crises and unexpected events.
Experience with technology integration in HR and administrative functions.
Knowledge of cultural dynamics and ability to manage a diverse workforce.
Experience in strategies for enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction.
