A4&T Power Solutions is looking for a well-rounded and driven Project Design, Estimation, Operations & Maintenance Engineer for conceptual design of solar developments and detailed design of solar projects. The conceptual design will involve collecting preliminary site information, performing site layouts, and iterating different technology cases /scenarios to optimizing energy output of the solar PV power plant.
Successful Candidate will be responsible for electrical calculations and designs, preparation of bill of materials, Project Cost estimate, detailed construction designs, as-built drawings, RFI, RFQ. You will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of equipment and systems within the facility, performing routine inspections, managing repairs, and optimizing operational efficiency, as well as ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
In this role, you will also work closely with our sales and project execution team.
Responsibilities
Specifically, the position will involve some or all of the following:
Design solar solutions for projects – Mini-Grid, rooftops, etc.
Provide cost estimates for projects based on prepared design, drawings and BOQs.
Creating electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) software
Performing PVsyst modeling.
Developing flawless designs for conduit and wire scheduling, routing and equipment plans.
Executing designs that adhere to grid compliance and permitting requirements
Compiling detailed bills of materials based on system specifications
Coordinating with the management team to develop complete proposal packages
Working with business development, project and installation teams to meet client’s needs and internal design standards.
Travel to the project site as required and requested to support assignments on projects and overall office needs.
Other Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with external contractors.
Assist in the daily operation of facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, if required.
Monitor operations to ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, including logs of repairs and maintenance activities.
Generate reports on maintenance activities and operational efficiency for management review.
Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Participate in safety training and contribute to the development of safety procedures.
Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and reduce downtime.
Train and mentor junior personnel or interns as needed.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering / Renewable Energy Engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Previous internship and/or related consulting experience (preferred).
Candidates must have sound experience with the following:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience performing solar engineering design as well as operations and maintenance (required).
Electrical distribution systems at 11kV and 33kV power levels
Able to perform Electrical calculations.
Knowledge of electrical design theory and concepts.
Knowledge of IEC, NEC Code and AC/DC Design Theory.
Ability to work collaboratively with others towards resolving design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Ability to independently complete required design
Ability to independently perform power optimization studies using PVsyst to meet client requirements or propose feasible options for any given site.
COREN Certification is an added advantage.
Software Requirement:
AutoCAD - expert level - at least 7 years of hands-on drafting experience
PVsyst at an advanced level and knowledge of other PV design software preferred (Homer, PVCase, Helioscope, Helios 3D, SunDAT, or PVMega), ETAP
Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, project).
