Green Concern for Development (GREENCODE) is a National registered NGO with CAC No: CAC/IT/NO 25643 and has been in operation for over 10 years. Our mission is to work with the poor and socially excluded people and government for the promotion of environmental and human rights protection in communities in Nigeria, aimed at poverty reduction through education, information sharing, research, training, and direct impact interventions are in humanitarian emergency response and development, with physical presence in Borno, Adamawa, Abuja, Cross River, Akwa Ibom States.

Job Title: Project Finance Officer

JobSummary
The post holder will contribute towards financial management of the office and programmes, interfacing with both operational and programme team members.
S/he will also contribute towards the overall development of the organization, monitoring project budgets, supporting with accurate and timely reporting on project performance for both internal and external usage, amongst others.
Responsibilities
Finance and Compliance:
Prepare vouchers of payment, receipt, and journals relating to cash transactions against approved bills/invoices in relation to the project
Ensure proper process documentation of all financial transactions
Ensure proper filing of finance related documents.
Assess the partner financial reports for partners and process all documents related to financial report submission.
Ensure that all GREENCODE financial records, transactions, and reports are correctly entered into the QUICKBOOKs accounting software
Undertaking monthly reconciliation of accounts including staff receivable/payable, advances and petty cash
Ensure all supporting documentation is available with voucher before payment as per donor and organizational compliance.
Maintenance of files and records relevant to the Borno state office, related maintenance and insurance, and relevant reporting to Senior Finance/Admin Officer and the National Coordinator
Ensure process and policy has been followed in regard to all financial transactions relating to assigned project
Prepare reports for donors and the organization and ensure all data are properly entered into the QuickBooks accounting software.
Contribute to developing and modifying project design based on experience and lessons from implementation, and in consultation with the project team and other stakeholders
Responsible for operational management of project funds, budgeting, forecasting, and documentation.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Undertake other finance duties as assigned to facilitate smooth functioning of accounting project finance.
Support month-end and year-end closure through report preparation and submission including petty cash reconciliation, vendors payment update.
Undertake any other task that may be assigned to by the Finance Manager and National Coordinator
Ensure filing of travel advances, per diem calculations and travel reconciliation forms are reviewed accurately, processed and filled accordingly.
Ensure all supporting documents required for all advances according to GREENCODE’s policies exists and are adhered to.
Ensure that all travel and purchase advances are liquidated timely.
Administration:
Support the Finance Manager to prepare the annual finance budgets the organization and for all projects.
Support in proposal and grant writing for GREENCODE
Support assets management and physical asset verification.
Capacity Building and Support:
Provide technical assistance in terms of accounting (use of QuickBooks accounting Software), financial management, financial policy formulation, and systems of internal control to all other colleagues and interns, whilst ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations.
Explain donor requirements and organizational financial policy & procedures to staff and ensure compliance.
Support during partner assessments
Support in preparation and review budgets, prepare quarterly forecast and provide assistance and guidance where necessary to other colleagues.
Monitoring and interpretation of project budgets versus actual expenditures - Prepare the Projects expenditure tracker like the BVA.
Support train staff on donor policies, rules and regulations.
Monitor and track finance related performance measurement indicators and liaise with Finance manager to implement strategies to improve performance.
Learning and Organizational Development:
Support resource mobilization efforts through contribution to budget preparation for proposal writing and related engagements.
Supports and builds capacity of programmes staff to ensure a high level of quality finance management.
Supports the orientation, on-going development/training capacity building of other staff when required in line with Organizational requirements.
Shares relevant grant and financial information within the Programme team supporting the proper documentation of all financial aspects of the programmes.
Increased understanding of GREENCODE’swork, systems and the organizations Strategy plan 2024-2028.
Learn different aspects of resource mobilization, particularly institutional fundraising for large NGOs, and in-country bi- and multilateral donor engagement.
Working as a team member in a multicultural setting.
Qualifications / Experience
University Degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related financial / Business Administration courses.
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
At least 2 years of practical work experience in managing financial and administrative systems for donor funded projects. (Audit practise added advantage)
A minimum of 2-year experience in grant financial management with donor-funded projects in Nigeria.

Use the organizations procedures and policies to settle conflicts among colleagues.
Refer, whenever necessary, any case to the Finance manager.
Desirable:
Strong communication skills: oral and written.
Experience in use of QuickBooks (Added advantage)
Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations
Familiar with international donors and their rules and regulations.
Physical Environment:
Typical office environment with little/frequent trips to other field offices/communities supporting programmes with financial obligations.
