The Rotating Equipment Specialist Role installs, tests, inspects, maintains, repairs, overhauls and calibrates mechanical rotating equipment, ensuring the equipment is maintained in compliance with Chevron procedures and Industry standards.
The role is also responsible for equipment safety, inventory management and ensuring the System of Record remains updated with relevant maintenance related information.
Key Responsibilities
Delivers work group’s goals, objectives and activities. Ensures smooth operations of critical equipment, performs maintenance to minimizes downtime.
Diagnoses and addresses operational and technical issues with mechanical rotating equipment, including high-capacity centrifugal, positive-displacement, and gear-type pumps.
This also involves replacing mechanical and dry-gas pump seals, as well as maintaining major rotating machinery such as gas turbine generators/compressors, Caterpillar engines, and power alternators
Safely executes routine and corrective maintenance repair work in accordance with recognized industry (API & OEM) & company standards.
Maintains concise equipment records such as repair plans, torque values, lube oil analysis and repair history within the System of Record.
Manages and utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), specifically JDE Edwards E1, to streamline maintenance operations.
What You Will Bring
Qualification:
B.Sc / HND (Second Class Honours, Upper Division/Upper Credit) in Mechanical Engineering.
Successfully completed training as a Mechanical technician within the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical Industry.
Completed training in the mechanical craft trade/technical field e.g. Mechanical Technician, Rotating Equipment Field Service Representative. (FSR).
Experience:
5 - 15 years relevant post-graduation or equivalent post apprenticeship onsite experience maintaining above mentioned equipment in heavy industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, refineries, etc., preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Expertise:
Demonstrated maintenance experience in repairing mechanical rotating equipment associated with hydrocarbon processing and major utilities systems.
Highly competent and experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting heavy-duty, high-speed (>3600RPM) /high-horsepower (>500HP) equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas-driven engines, pumps, steam turbines, gas-fired turbine engines, agitators, blowers, boilers, heat exchangers, chemical injection pumps, generators, expanders, etc.
Skilled in conducting thorough reviews and analyses of mechanical defects, especially when issues are complex and could result in extended downtime or LPO/flaring events.
Ability to effectively collaborate with leadership, subject matter experts (SMEs), and reliability analysts to develop comprehensive solutions.
Proficient in reading and interpreting manuals, specifications, drawings, blueprints, design manuals, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).;
Competent in the use of mechanical tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
Knowledgeable in identifying and assessing process safety hazards, and risks, with the ability to develop effective mitigation strategies.
Possesses a strong understanding of asset integrity, particularly in maintaining the integrity of dedicated systems.
Well versed in the application of industry standards such as API, ISO, ANSI, etc.
