Job Overview
The Health Informatics Associate will support the implementation of the ACE 4 Health informatics (HI) activities and database management at the central level and assigned health facilities.
S/he will work behind the scenes to ensure patient information is accurately recorded into electronic medical records (EMRs) and other systems and provide system administration support to other staff and manage IT infrastructure of the project.
Work Interactions and Conditions
The Health Informatics Associate will work closely with the HI Advisor, State SI Team leads, SI officer/assistants, and project staff in the supported health facilities.
The role will require regular visits to supported health facilities to provide technical support, mentoring and supervision. But must be able to work with very SHORT timelines that may require unplanned travels and long work hours.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developers.
Bug Fixes & Support: Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects reported by users or identified during testing.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, designers, and other developers to implement software solutions.
Documentation: Write technical documentation, user guides, and code comments to ensure maintainability.
Testing: Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure the reliability of software applications.
Learning & Growth: Stay updated with new technologies, best practices, and participate in continuous learning.
Code Reviews: Participate in peer code reviews, learn from feedback, and contribute to improving the quality of code.
Ensure Clean and Updated RADET:
Review Combined RADET and provide feedback to responsible support staff at the State level
Follow up with the state teams on timely RADET file submission on a weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Basis
Ensure each site maintains a functional and updated EMR System:
EMR Infrastructure is well maintained
Ensure an up-to-date data entry on the High Frequency Retorting platform (Daily Reporting)
Patient folders are properly arranged and filed on well labelled shelves
EMR infrastructures are properly installed in secured locations within the health facilities
LAMIS3 and LAMISLite:
First Contact support from State team on LAMISPlus and LAMISPlusLite issues
Trouble shooting supports, Installation of LAMISPlusand LAMISPlusLite application
Ensure that 100% of sites are passing report validation on RADET.
Ensure that 100% of supported sites are reporting daily, weekly and monthly according to standards
Put in place a proper feedback mechanism for faulty EMR infrastructures
Support 100% Data concurrences on the National Data Repository:
Ensure NDR XML files are updated on the NDR platform on a biweekly basis (Wednesday and Fridays by COB
Analyses of NDR EMR concurrence and provide feedback to the state SI teams and ensure corrective actions are in place
Follow-up on Patient Biometric updates on the NDR platform
Digital Solution and transformation:
Support the routine use of data for decision making at supported state and facilities through the conversion of project results into infographics for ease of understanding
Creativity:
Generate solutions or approaches to the most demanding problems within the team
Establish workable, prioritized, and highly effective problem-solving plans for each problem
Communication:
Maintain reports and documentation that are consistent with the task at hand and available to all concerned parties via emails or standard archiving options
Connects easily with supervisees and colleagues at all levels in a professional manner
Participate in the implementation of project evaluation activities at the state
Supervise data entry clerks to ensure they are meeting the performance goals at their assigned sites/CMT
Participate in health system strengthening activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies Required
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience: 0-2 years of hands-on experience in software development (internships or personal projects are acceptable).
Languages: Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, etc.
Frameworks/Tools: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development tools.
Databases: Basic understanding of SQL and experience with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in identifying and resolving issues.
Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with the team.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with front-end and back-end development.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Knowledge of web services and APIs (REST, SOAP).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
