The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) believes the Bible is for all Nigerians. Traditionally, the work of the BSN is to make the Bible available and affordable. The Society has come to see that provision of the printed text, however well-presented, is only a part of the task. To achieve the most effective and meaningful distribution, the BSN also recognizes the need to develop programmes, using all forms of media to stimulate and facilitate encounter with the biblical text in Churches and public places. We actualize our mission through five major functions, namely: Translation, Publishing, Distribution, Programmes and Fundraising.

Job Title: Deputy Manager - Research / Literacy & Programmes

Key Responsibilities
Carry out research into the versions, formats andpresentation of the scripturesneeded by our market audience
Carry out research into BSN various operations and activities including translation, distribution, staff related matters, the versions, and formatsof the scriptureneeded by our market audience
To conduct a regular scripture price, customers satisfaction, market intelligence survey within Lagos metropolis monthly and outside Lagos at pre-scheduled time.
Language/Product viability research for new translation
Facilitate effective Literacy activities, language primer construction and so on.
Identifies and anticipates consumer needs through well researched investigations
Conducts regular market intelligence survey that could inform BSN product price mechanism strategy
Major/specialized research into competitors’ activities input on BSN activities half yearly
Ensure initiation, development and implementation of relevant programmes that will make people interact with the Word of God
Manage projects/ programmes initiated by BSN in achieving its mission and business mandate
Supervises the initiation, submission, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all projects on Solomon from time to time.
Ensures every necessary report is submitted for allocated grants to be timely claimed on Solomon.
Ensures relevant workshops and seminars are organized the for Area Officers and youth leaders of Churches and Para-Church organizations in collaborations with the CPRD and BSN Consult.
Ensures a productive working relationship with Christian and secular youth organisations to make the Bible relevant among youths in Nigeria.
Personnel Specifications
5 - 7 years cognate experience in related field involving social research work and analysis, literacy activities and programmes, project writing and management.
A Higher National Diploma or first degree in the humanities is a must especially in Business Administration, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics, or any other related field. A master’s degree in business administration or other related field would be of advantage.
Must possess excellent leadership, communication, organisation, presentation, social and report writing skills with ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrate competence in a variety of social statistical tools such as SPSS, other data analysis tools and other computer applications
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
Demonstrate ability to analyze and synthesize data from a wide variety of sources and present the resulting information in a clear summary.
Must be analytical, innovative with creative mind at developing strategies to making BSN programme and projects more impact-driven
Ability to constantly supervise timely response to national emergency issues, development of relevant project as quickly as possible to meet the need of the society and people
Needs assessment and impact assessment and application skills; Project writing, reporting and programme development skills.
Good self-application, selfless, kind and considerate, assertive, and an excellent team player
Good working knowledge of Microsoft, Power point, Word, Excel.
