We are looking for a skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team at an Aluminum and Copper Recycling Plant.
The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the plant.
The ideal candidate will ensure that all electrical systems are in safe working condition to support the plant’s daily operations, minimize downtime, and adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation and Maintenance:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, including motors, control panels, generators, and production equipment.
Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, breakers, and wiring, to ensure they are functioning safely and efficiently.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems and perform timely repairs to reduce downtime.
Maintain backup power systems and ensure continuous electrical supply during outages.
Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all electrical systems to identify potential issues before they become problems.
Ensure proper functionality of all electrical equipment and systems by following maintenance schedules and documenting inspections and repairs.
Perform tests and checks using electrical testing tools, such as multimeters and circuit testers, to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety practices, and National Electrical Code (NEC) regulations.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes and safety standards.
Participate in safety meetings, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with the maintenance team, engineers, and production personnel to ensure electrical issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment or plant upgrades.
Train and guide junior electricians or plant operators in electrical safety practices and troubleshooting.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repair work.
Provide reports on the status of electrical systems and equipment, including any issues, downtime, and corrective actions taken.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Diploma or Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
Experience: At least 5-7years of experience as an Electrician in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in recycling or metal processing plants.
Certifications: Licensed or certified Electrician (e.g., Journeyman Electrician).
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), control panels, and switchgear.
Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
Experience with PLC systems and automation is an advantage.
Familiarity with safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and National Electrical Code (NEC) regulations.
Ability to use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the aluminum or copper recycling industry or similar industrial environments.
Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and sustainable electrical systems.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a high-temperature, noisy, and fast-paced industrial environment.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand, climb, and kneel for extended periods.
Willingness to work in confined spaces and at heights, if required.
