How You’ll Make an Impact - Challenging and future oriented:
The objective is to guide our governmental relations in West Africa – with a special focus on Nigeria - related to our regulatory and business objectives in close collaboration with our Head Government Affairs Middle East & Africa, West Africa MD, our Country MDs as well as the Business Areas and Corporate Functions.
Seen as a trusted partner to governments, your will aim at creating unique value to achieve positive business impact and at the same time achieve societal improvements in the region.
You will be responsible of taking the lead of key work packages in large energy transition projects. Jointly with businesses and countries you will analyse strategies and infrastructure opportunities in West African countries, seek the dialogue with the government institutions as well as donor countries and agencies, evaluate financing instruments and development cooperation to advise businesses and countries accordingly.
To this end, it is your mission to engage in and strengthen relations proactively with governments, embassies, financial institutions, associations, and other institutions.
Your role requests a special focus on the Nigerian energy landscape amongst others and accordingly to be a trusted partner to governments whilst developing a deep understanding of the transitional political processes and the associated business opportunities to guide our businesses.
Your responsibility includes that you continuously add to and improve our advisory and outreach approach and actively support colleagues with expertise towards the global government affairs team.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of policy and regulatory affairs across the energy landscape and can assist in the preparation of position papers, policy briefings, presentations while actively driving initiatives across West Africa.
What You Bring
Candidates should possess a Postgraduate Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Law, Political Science, Engineering, International Relations and / or equivalent
At-least + 7years of leadership experience. Ability to successfully aligning the People strategy to business strategy
As an expert you have at least 7 years’ experience in a similar government affairs role in Nigeria.
A profound understanding of West African countries and a solid understanding of the Just Energy Transition with the respective network to the political & funding institutions together with a proven sub-regional track record preferably in one or more West African countries is a must have for this role.
+7 years experience delivering business results with ministries of energy and petroleum, ministries of finance, electricity/transmission/petroleum utilities, DFIs, business associations etc at an executive level.
