Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) is a non-governmental organization that promotes the demonstration improved pre-i post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers. SAA assists host Country agricultural development programs through its country program. The project is implemented through five interrelated components: Regenerative Agriculture, Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture for improved Postharvest and Agro-processing Technologies, promote Market-Oriented Agriculture in support of pluralistic extension delivery and market access, to develop agricultural extension advisory services, and establishing a relevant, efficient and effective Monitoring and Evaluation, and Communication system.
The Technical Coordinator, MOA coordinates and leads MOA activities, and in coordination with other themes, carry out program activities that contribute to the implementation of the value-chain extension approach.
The Technical Coordinator MOA reports to the Country Director and the Deputy Country Director.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leading a team of extension officers, coordinating, supervising and monitoring all activities related to the Market Oriented Agriculture.
Participate in consultation with the local authorities to present objectives and purpose of the organization and agree on the coordination arrangements.
Assist in the development of criteria, approach and procedures as well as supporting documents for the establishment of Commodity Associations (CAs)/Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) through fair and transparent competitive process to ensure the inclusion of marginalized and poor members of the community.
Preserve up to date and a well-organized database/inventory of all activities e.g. agro-dealers, farmers and encourage development in underserved areas and facilitate linkages with farmers and farmer groups.
Develop Financial packages/models in collaboration with agro processors, input dealers, traders, and micro finance institutions (MFI) to increase farmers access to credit and other services.
Develop and strengthen market information system among key stakeholders in the value chain.
Prepare regular reports; monthly, quarterly & annual technical and financial reports and submit to DCD and CD.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
MSc / PhD degree in Agri-Business, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture extension, Business Management, or a related field
5/3 years of working experience on relevant field.
English Proficiency: Level C2 (Especially writing skills),
Microsoft Office: Advance knowledge of Power point, Word and Excel
Strong oral, analytical, writing and presentational skills
Knowledge of Econometrics and statistical analysis and good reporting skills
Excellent project coordination and management skills
Skills on using ICT (GPS and e-extension tools).
Compensation
SAA offers a competitive benefits package. However, salary is commensurate with experience.
