Job Description
NRC has been present in Nigeria since 2015 and has been working to help displacement-affected communities meet their basic needs, improve their livelihoods, access essential services, and enhance their resilience to future shocks through our six core competencies: water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), Shelter, Education, Information-Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS), Camp Management, and Protection.
NRC provides immediate assistance during the onset of emergencies through the rapid response mechanism (RRM). With a workforce of 370 staff and a presence in key locations such as Maiduguri (in Borno State), Yola (in Adamawa State) and Jos (in Plateau State), NRC can respond to the needs of those affected by the conflict across North-East, and North Central Nigeria.
These strategic locations have allowed NRC greater reach from the north and south parts of the North-East and North Central region and allowed NRC to contribute to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and development cooperation, including by focusing on equitable access to basic services and strengthening the rights of displaced people and returnees.
In addition to the Country Office and the above-mentioned Area Offices, NRC has sub-office structures in Dikwa, Monguno, Biu, Mubi, Pulka and Gwoza.

If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Livelihoods and Food Security Technical Assistant to join our team in Mafa, Borno State.
You willassist in the day-to-day implementation of the Food Security project in Mafa field office.
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action.
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
Ensure proper filing of documents.
Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.
Supervise distribution of materials and equipment are timely and accordance with the procedures.
Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities, aim and objective.
Explore and facilitate introduction of new technology, method and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities.
Specific responsibilities:
Together with LFS Officers, the Assistants will be responsible for the implementation of livelihoods and food security activities in the field in areas of Agriculture, Income Generation Activities, (IGAs), and VSLA activities and livestock production and management.
Support and carry out registration of project participant with supervision from the officer.
Participant in data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.
Coordinate and implement livelihood and food security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements.
Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities.
Coordinate with relevant partners working in the same implementation areas.
Ensure proper archiving/filling of project documents on filling tree.
Facilitate the distribution of project materials and equipment according to procedures.
Prepare weekly progress reports and other documents as required.
Supervise, train and develop team of good community facilitators, community volunteers, and survey enumerators.
Support stakeholder and partners in training on project participant.
Coordinate with stakeholders and partners in training of project participant on small scale business, income generating activities, VSLA, and livestock production & management.
Requirements
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
B.Sc Degree / HND in Agriculture, Economics, Social Sciences or related.
Work experience from Borno State context is preferred.
A minimum of one year in a related position is required.
Experience and understanding of Selection, Planning and Management (SPM) of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) both on farm and off farm.
Experience in project participant skills training and distribution of business startup kits.
Experience in agricultural livelihoods (crop and livestock production), value chain addition and VSLA.
Previous experience of working in complex and volatile contexts.
Knowledge of the context in Borno state.
Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity.
Ability to work in insecure environments.
Communicating with respects.
Candidates from Borno State preferred
