The needs assessment aims to identify vulnerabilities and the specific challenges faced by vulnerable children, youth, and families across seven states in Nigeria: Akwa Ibom, Osun, Kwara, Nasarawa, Benue, Taraba, and Kaduna.
Given the diverse characteristics of these populations, it is essential to gather comprehensive data to identify gaps in services, resources, and support systems.
The Data Collector will play a critical role in conducting fieldwork for the needs assessment, engaging directly with target groups such as children, youth, and vulnerable families. The Data Collector must adhere to survey guidelines, maintain ethical standards, and gather comprehensive information to support the project’s objectives.

Location:
The Data Collector will focus on gathering data exclusively within their local government of residence (within any of the seven states listed above) and the neighboring local government.
This approach leverages their familiarity with the local environment, allowing for more effective navigation and identification of key areas of interest. Their in-depth knowledge of the region will enhance the accuracy of data collection and contribute to a more efficient process.
Responsibilities
Conduct face-to-face interviews and surveys using the ODK Collect tool on Android devices.
Gather accurate and detailed information from target groups, including children, youth, and vulnerable families.
Address participant queries and provide necessary clarifications during the survey.
Enter collected data into the ODK system in real-time or as soon as possible.
Guidelines:
Ensure adherence to the survey guidelines and standardized questionnaires.
Ask all questions in the specified order and format to maintain consistency.
Obtain informed consent from participants before data collection.
Record responses accurately during interviews.
Perform initial data checks for completeness and consistency during collection.
Working Hours & Compensation:
The data collection work is to be conducted between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
While you have full autonomy on how you organize your time within these hours, we do not encourage working at night.
Requirements
A minimum of a OND or equivalent; higher education (HND, Degree and above).
Prior experience in data collection, field research, or similar roles is preferred.
Proficiency in using Android or IOS devices, ability to use communication apps such as whatsapp, ability to send mails and prior experience using a data collection tools such as ODK Collect will be an added advantage.
Familiarity with the local area and its communities, including an understanding of cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
Excellent verbal communication skills for conducting interviews and explaining survey procedures.
Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ethical standards, and sensitivity toward participants.
Ability to handle field challenges, adapt to changing conditions, and work independently.
Effective time management and organizational abilities to ensure timely and accurate data collection.
Salary
Data collectors will be paid 8,000 Naira daily (40,000 Naira for the five days).
