Waiters and Waitresses in a lounge are responsible for delivering excellent customer service by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience.
They must maintain an upbeat and professional attitude while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Customer Service:
Greet guests warmly upon arrival, guide them to their seats, and introduce them to the lounge's offerings.
Present menus and make recommendations on drinks, appetizers, and main dishes based on guest preferences.
Answer questions regarding the menu, ingredients, or dietary restrictions with accuracy and professionalism.
Provide attentive service throughout the guest’s visit, ensuring drinks and food are served in a timely manner.
Order Taking & Serving:
Accurately take food and drink orders using the lounge’s point-of-sale system.
Relay orders to the kitchen and bar staff and ensure they are prepared to the guests' specifications.
Serve orders promptly, ensuring the correct dishes and drinks are delivered to the right guests.
Check with guests periodically to ensure they are satisfied with their meals and service.
Beverage Service:
Be knowledgeable about the lounge’s drink offerings, including cocktails, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Prepare simple cocktails and drinks if required, or communicate orders to the bar.
Ensure drinks are served at the correct temperature and in appropriate glassware.
Table Maintenance:
Ensure tables are clean, properly set up, and ready for guests.
Clear tables and remove dirty dishes, glassware, and utensils in a timely manner.
Reset tables with clean linens, silverware, and glassware after guests leave.
Upselling & Promotions:
Inform guests of any daily specials, promotions, or new menu items.
Upsell food and drink items by suggesting pairings or premium choices.
Payment Processing:
Present the bill to guests and handle payment transactions (cash, credit cards, or mobile payments).
Accurately process and settle bills, providing guests with change or receipts as needed.
Follow lounge policies on handling cash and credit cards, ensuring transactions are error-free.
Guest Relations:
Handle guest complaints or special requests with professionalism and ensure a resolution that enhances their experience.
Communicate any issues or concerns to the Lounge Manager for further assistance when necessary.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, ensuring compliance with food handling regulations.
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and restrooms.
Ensure that glassware, cutlery, and dishes are clean and polished before use.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with other staff, including bartenders, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure seamless service.
Assist other team members as needed during peak hours to maintain efficiency.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a waiter/waitress or in a similar role in hospitality, preferably in a lounge or bar.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and remain calm under pressure.
Knowledge of the menu, drinks, and food preparation techniques.
Basic math skills for handling transactions and calculating bills.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A professional, well-groomed appearance with a focus on personal hygiene.
Physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods, as well as carry trays of food and beverages.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a lounge, bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and beverage handling practices is an advantage
Working Conditions:
Full-time or part-time; typically involves evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Fast-paced environment with prolonged periods of standing, walking, and carrying trays.
