We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Business Development Executive

Location: Magodo, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Role Overview

  • As a Business Development Executive at 8thGear Hub & Venture Studio, you will play a key role in driving the growth and success of our portfolio ventures, impact projects, and hub services.
  • This multifaceted role combines venture-building support, proposal writing, client interfacing, and the sales of our services to startups, tech-enabled MSMEs, and other stakeholders in our expanding community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Venture Building Support:

  • Portfolio Management: Provide strategic and operational support to our portfolio ventures, assisting in scaling their operations and achieving business milestones.
  • Advisory: Work closely with startups and tech MSMEs in our ecosystem, offering business advice, mentorship, and access to relevant resources.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Market Insights: Conduct in-depth market research to identify new business opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive insights relevant to our ventures and hub services.
  • Strategy Development: Analyze market data to develop growth strategies and position our services to meet the demands of the market.

Proposal Development and Grant Writing:

  • Proposal Crafting: Write compelling proposals, concept notes, and grant applications that clearly articulate our value proposition and project impact.
  • Client Pitching: Develop presentations and pitches to communicate the unique benefits of our services to potential clients and partners.

Client Interfacing and Relationship Management:

  • Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and strong relationship management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Problem Solving: Identify client needs and work collaboratively with internal teams to develop tailored solutions that address their specific challenges.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies aimed at increasing revenue from our hub services, including training programs, consulting, and workspace solutions.
  • Target Achievement: Meet or exceed sales targets by effectively selling our services to startups, tech MSMEs, and other businesses.

Strategic Partnerships:

  • Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that can enhance our service offerings or expand our market reach.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations and finalize partnership agreements that align with 8thGear’s business objectives.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of business development activities, client interactions, and deal progress in CRM systems.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on sales performance, market trends, and business development initiatives.

Required Competencies and Skills

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Professional Experience: Proven track record in business development, venture building, or sales roles, preferably within the tech ecosystem.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn market data into actionable business strategies.
  • Independent Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using CRM software, AI tools (including Generative AI), and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Market Understanding: Strong understanding of market dynamics, especially within the innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
