Job Title: Project Officer (SGBV - We Matter Too! Project)

Location: Benue

Job Description

  • The Project Officer Support the SGBV/MCHPR Coordinator in implementing the Project on We matter, our lives (health) count too!; Enabling Adolescent girls, young women and the community, and other SGBV/MCHPR projects to ensure programmatic and financial integrity of the project including achievement of the project goals, objectives and outcomes.
  • S/he will ensure that the project is implemented with best practices, getting lessons learned and inclusion of lessons learnt including meeting organisational Quality Standards and international standards, working closely with all staff to do this. The role will require travel to field sites approximately 80% of the time.
  • The post holder will support the SGBV/MCHPR Coordinator in technical planning supervision and monitoring of field activities, maintain, monitor and measure the We matter too and other SGBV implementation and contribute to effective information management on community dialogues, diffusion activities and other project activities to ensure adherence to SOPs, participate in the monthly planning meetings to ensure effective implementation of the project.
  • S/he will assist in project monitoring at the community level and participate in the Technical Advisory Group meeting and Work with other departments/units in Tearfund including the Gender Based Violence/Psychosocial Support (GBV/PSS) unit in the Reconciled and Peace-filled Society (RPS) corporate priority area.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • BSc / BA or equivalent qualification in Gender Studies, Public health, Peacebuilding, International Relations, Sociology, or other relevant courses. A master's degree in the related field will be an advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in development, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation or other learning efforts is required.
  • International NGO field experience in a similar position: programme support, development, or fundraising.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating within the Project Cycle Management (including logframe development and theories of change).
  • Proven experience in Knowledge Management and Institutional Learning initiatives.
  • Experience in Project Cycle Management (including logframe development and M&E).
  • Experience in capacity building/ training.
  • Experience in conveying stories and case studies to external audiences in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Experience gathering visual material for communications
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Proven evidence in programming around projects on SGBV and SRH
  • Experience of public speaking
  • Experience working in coalitions, networks or social movements
  • Ability to apply biblical principles to topical issues
  • Proven evidence of involvement in project management
  • People management experience
  • Experience in working with local NGOs/FBOs
  • Proven experience in programming of SGBV, SRH and or HIV projects
  • Experience working with local communities and health facilities in project implementation in a consortium.
  • Working with SPHERE Standards and CHS.
  • Working under pressure and remote environment
  • Open to learn and use new applications effectively
  • Working knowledge of local languages(Tiv and basic knowledge of Hausa language will be an added advantage
