The Accounts Analyst will be responsible for supporting the finance team with accounting tasks, financial analysis, and reporting.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information, helping to drive informed decision-making within a fast-paced commodity trading and manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of financial principles, analytical thinking, and experience in accounting, especially within the commodity sector.
Prepare, analyze, and report monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts, variance analysis, and trend reports for management review.
Generate commodity-specific financial reports, including profit margins, cost analysis, and pricing trends.
Accounting Functions:
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions and journal entries in line with GAAP and IFRS standards.
Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and P&L review.
Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Cost Accounting & Budgeting:
Work closely with operations to analyze and monitor production costs, overhead allocations, and inventory valuations.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process by analyzing commodity price trends, cost drivers, and financial risks.
Assist with inventory accounting and reconcile variances between physical stock and financial records.
Commodity Trading Support:
Analyze market trends and commodity price movements to assist the trading team with financial implications.
Monitor and assess the financial performance of trading contracts and transactions.
Assist in the preparation of reports on hedging strategies, risk management, and trade profitability.
Compliance & Audit:
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant financial regulations.
Prepare for internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to ensure operational efficiency.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Variance between forecasted and actual financial performance.
Efficiency in closing month-end and year-end accounts.
Inventory accuracy and cost control.
Key Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, ICAN, CFA) or progress toward them is compulsory.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role within the commodity trading or manufacturing industry.
Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, or pricing analysis is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics).
Advanced Excel skills for data analysis (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling).
Familiarity with financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
