Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to manage our financial operations and ensure the accuracy of all accounting processes.
The Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
This role requires a strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to support the company’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Bookkeeping: Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions, including managing invoices, receipts, and financial documentation. Maintain organized financial records and ensure all accounts are up to date.
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and perform regular account reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage and oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that payments are made and received in a timely manner.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Monitor spending and revenue to provide insights and recommendations for financial improvement.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns (corporate, payroll, VAT, etc.), ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Manage tax planning and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
Payroll Processing: Administer payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries, bonuses, and other compensations. Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth. Provide financial advice and guidance to senior management based on findings.
Internal Controls: Ensure internal financial controls are effective and efficient, implementing improvements where necessary. Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and insights.
Expense Management: Review and manage expense reports, ensuring proper approval and compliance with company policies.
Software & System Use: Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) to maintain records and perform financial operations. Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes using technology.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup or dynamic business environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS) and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Experience with tax preparation and compliance, payroll processing, and financial analysis.
CPA certification or progress towards certification is preferred but not required.
Salary Range
N150,000 - N300,000 / Month.
