Job Description
We are hiring a Head of Operational Risk to develop and enhance the firm's Operational Risk and Control Framework while working closely with senior managers and stakeholders across the organisation to ensure risks are identified and controlled.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Reviews, enhances and develop the firm's Operational Risk and Control Framework for the bank.
Works closely with senior managers and stakeholders across the firm to ensure operational risks are properly identified and controlled.
Continual enhancement of the Risk Management governance framework in order to keep pace with the evolving regulatory environment and industry best practices.
Take charges of key risk related projects.
Ensures bank-wide enhancement and implementation of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework, methodology and tools are in line with the Bank’s operational risk appetite.
Ensures that an effective Operational risk management reporting process is in place, enabling timely escalation of severe Operational risk incidents and submission of Operational Risk Management reports.
Review and investigate major Operational risk incidents to ensure proper corrective actions, identify root causes and drive effective preventive actions.
Provide Operational Risk functional specialist expertise through:
New Product Approval Process review;
Advisory support to Business/Support Units on process improvements, new initiatives etc
Support CRO in establishing and communicating the organization’s operational risk management Framework.
Facilitates and leads interfacing with functional units to establish and communicate risk management policies, processes, risk appetite and limits.
Work closely with the product Strategy team to ensure new products/services identified are managing the operational risk with prudent, comprehensive risk assessments in order to minimize any negative impact.
Facilitates and participates in enterprise-wide risk assessments and recommendations.
Conducts risk management education and training as appropriate.
Collaborates with business units to minimize operational issues.
Leads projects in co-ordination with Operational Risk team to enhance the Operational risk framework and assist with implementation of best practices.
Qualifications
Minimum of B.Sc. in any Social Science discipline (Business Administration, Marketing, Banking & Finance, Economics or related courses).
5 years and above of experience in similar field
Professional certification in ICAN, ACCA RIMA is preferred

Practical knowledge and understanding of risk management, CBN regulations and the financial services industry.

Prior supervisory experience - this may have been with juniors
Strong communication skills are essential - must be able to work with senior managers and stakeholders
Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Ability to work across business units and departments
Ability to work constructively and flexibly in a small team environment, and to assist at the direction of management in tasks that are not the immediate responsibility of the department.
