Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day business affairs of the department.
• Introduce and implementation of sound accounting principles, capable of ensuring smooth operations and effective running of the company.
• Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial, commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
• Monitor expenditure, analyze revenues and determine budget variances and report the same to management.
• Develops, maintain and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Generate financial reports and statements to Management for review.
• Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions
• Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion.
• Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts.
• Responsible for the preparation of the company’s monthly cash flow instrument for the attention of the MD.
• Review and recommend changes to existing accounting procedures.
• It shall be your sole responsibility to ensure that Daily, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports prepared by the accounting team are accurate and professionally put together.
• Implement quality management and regulatory compliance strategies (VAT, PAYE).
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
• Evaluate computerized accounting systems and provide recommendations to IT team for performance improvements.
• Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations
• Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.

Educational and Competency Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• AAT certification is a plus
• At least 4 years’ experience in similar role.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards and practices to efficiently monitor the business' budgeting and cashflow modelling framework.
• Demonstrated capacity carrying out statutory & tax computations for prompt filing and ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels.
