Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria and one of its largest investors. In Nigeria, we operate under a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta region.
Chevron also has extensive interests in multipartner deepwater operations. We operate the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest deepwater discoveries. We also have a nonoperated interest in the Usan Field.
General Facilities, Projects and Operations support engineer. The position will require advanced knowledge in Oil and Gas Operations, including core technical skills of multiple engineering disciplines such as process, mechanical, electrical, pipeline, instrumentation and controls, reliability, and integrity, and civil/structural.
Responsible for supporting base business operations including maintenance, turnaround, facilities upgrade, and asset retirement, as well as design, construction, and execution of small to major capital projects across all phases.
Key Responsibilities
Manages small to mid-size capital projects, including opportunity shaping, conceptual design, front-end and detailed engineering, contracting and field execution.
Manages medium to large scale field construction work, pipeline installation (onshore and offshore), small and major equipment installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning, working with 3rd party contractors.
Analyze and troubleshoot equipment reliability issues and failures and carry out root cause analysis and offer solutions.
Manages asset integrity activities, especially with pipelines, flowlines, pipeline cleaning and inspection processes and tools.
Carries out production facility review with a view to optimize and grow production, while minimizing downtime associated with equipment failures resulting in loss production and overall efficiency.
Works closely with industry regulators, JV and PSC Partners, other agencies would be an added advantage.
Lead discipline-level and cross-discipline-level design decisions.
Applies MFO principles to optimize design. Responsible for discipline-wide design that meets all applicable TC&S, Industry Codes, and local regulations. Contributes to VIPs.
Responsible for Design Reviews of discipline deliverables / designs. Resolves complex technical issues and addresses technical queries and interfaces.
Manages technical change and implementation of design related PMOC in area of responsibility.
Serve as the company representative in a 3rd party engineering site. In area of responsibility, provides technical decisions / recommendations to queries, deviations, and other vendor or contractor changes to design.
Contributes to technical qualification of bidder qualifications and bid award recommendation.
Responsible for the quality, sequence and timeliness of cross-discipline design deliverables and inputs to cost and schedule estimates.
Responsible for managing the involvement of discipline specific technical SMEs as needed for input / review of designs.
Develops CP execution planning for area of responsibility, utilizing project management processes. Applies CP processes & tools to a significant delivery scope.
Develops, reviews, and interrogates project cost estimates and schedules proficiently.
Plans and leads construction/site safety and onsite facility SIMOPS plans. Approves construction and design changes in the field.
Designs, constructs, and modifies complex systems of equipment.
Develops construction work packages for field execution for FE projects of high complexity.
Prepares cost estimates and schedules for projects of high complexity, including risk mitigation.
Tracks project cost vs. field progress and administers project controls for high complexity FE projects.
Leads construction activities, including necessary staffing and site mobilization plans and implementation of systems completions activities as applicable.
Provides final approval for construction and design changes in the field.
What You Will Bring
Qualification
B.Sc. Degree or equivalent in Engineering discipline. Master’s degree in Engineering and Applicable professional certifications is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
Expertise:
Advanced knowledge in general Facilities, Projects & Operations engineering support to new and operating facilities, through application of subject matter expert skill set and engineering knowledge.
Leadership:
Strong leadership and communication skills. Able to mentor younger engineers and set clear expectations to deliver safe, timely and cost-efficient projects.
Additional Considerations:
Advanced understanding of Oil and Gas sector operations, including applicable industry codes and standards.
Extensive discipline, project management and construction management experience in Deep Water, Onshore and Offshore locations.
Extensive experience in process safety hazards, assesses process safety risks, and develops mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated digital innovation skillset, including understanding of current and potential future Artificial Intelligence activities. Ability to leverage technology to simplify work and create value.
Demonstrated knowledge and skillset managing small to mid-size capital projects and extensive field construction activities.
Advanced understanding of cost estimating, project scheduling, capital and operating cost optimization efforts and cost tracking.
Advanced knowledge working with industry regulators, JV and PSC Partners, other agencies would be an added advantage.
Great experience working in Onshore, Offshore and Deep Water related projects and operations would be an added advantage.
Advanced refinery or complex processing facility experience would be an added advantage.
