Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria and one of its largest investors. In Nigeria, we operate under a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta region.
Chevron also has extensive interests in multipartner deepwater operations. We operate the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest deepwater discoveries. We also have a nonoperated interest in the Usan Field.
Job Description
This Earth Scientist position covers the following key areas:
Geological Roles:
Exploration and Development geology work processes, integrate seismic, well and production data to evaluate plays, prospects and discovered fields.
This role will also manage volumetric, reserve, and risk assessments, as well as plan and mature exploration, appraisal and development drilling programs.
Geophysical Roles:
Familiar with geophysical workflows (including earth modeling, velocity, amplitudes, amplitude variation with offset (AVO) modeling, rock physics, seismic processing, etc.) to support prospect generation and resource estimation.
Stay updated on new and emerging technologies, maintain a reasonable understanding of geological and geophysical trends, and leverage them when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Analyses geological and geophysical data to develop discovered resources and manage existing fields.
Interprets seismic data and well logs, create detailed geologic maps and cross sections and build subsurface models. Utilize subsurface models to evaluate static and dynamic properties of reservoirs, assess uncertainty and mitigate subsurface risks in field development plans.
Collaborates with reservoir engineers to optimize recovery strategies and develop production forecasts. Analyse production trends and recommend interventions to maintain or increase production output.
Computes reserves to evaluate the economic feasibility of field development projects, working alongside cross-functional teams such as geophysicists, engineers, and economists. Define well prognoses for all approved wells to support the business’ well performance objectives.
Collaborates with cross-functional drilling teams and provides technical expertise for the geological planning and execution of development wells and workovers.
Monitors drilling operations and analyse results in real-time. Evaluates logs, cutting samples, core and other data from drilling operations.
Conducts post-well lookbacks, contributes to post-drill resource and reserves bookings, and prepares technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
Complies with government(s) regulations on all aspects of the asset development and reservoir management lifecycle.
