Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Proposal Writer to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing compelling proposals to secure funding for our various projects and programs.
This role requires a keen understanding of our mission and goals, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to articulate our vision to potential donors and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the search for and identification of potential funding opportunities.
Contribute to verifying the eligibility criteria of each donor applicable to Janikoba Life Touching Foundation before developing and/or submitting projects and grants.
Determine with Janikoba Life Touching Foundation team the number of high- quality proposals or grants to be written per week or month.
Manage the details of the proposal development process to help ensure all components are vetted, completed, and reviewed prior to submission.
Work independently and remotely to write compelling, clear proposal narratives and deliverables requiring few edits quickly
Create client-ready deliverables with minimal guidance or oversight
Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for proposal development.
Ensure that all proposals align with the foundation's mission and strategic objectives.
Edit and proofread proposals to ensure clarity, coherence, and accuracy.
Maintain a calendar of deadlines and manage the submission process for proposals.
Participate in online and/or in person meetings for the follow-up, evaluation of the collaboration and or the amendment and validation of project proposals and grants written by the Grant Writer.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Project Management, Political or Social Science, International Relations, Business, Social Work or any related field.
Proven experience of minimum 5 years as a proposal writer, grant writer, preferably in the non profit sector.
Strong experience and knowledge in business development, fundraising, project management or local NGO management.
Knowledge or familiarity with the root causes of poverty and the challenges of development, access to education, health and human rights protection in Nigeria or Africa;
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong research and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and meet deadline.
Familiarity with funding sources and grant application processes.
Be flexible, team-oriented and collaborative.
Exceptional organizational and writing skills.
Fluency in English (spoken and written).
