Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and certified English teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language, have a strong background in IGCSE/Cambridge or British curriculum, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching.
The primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality English language instruction to students at various levels, preparing learners for Cambridge Check point, GCSE, for secondary learners.
The teacher will also be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a well-rounded educational experience.
Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English language lessons for students at different levels, utilizing various teaching methodologies and resources.
Establish clear learning objectives for each lesson and assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments.
Provide individualized feedback and support to students, identifying areas for improvement and setting goals for future progress.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curricula that align with Nigerian education standards and the specific needs of our students.
Monitor and track student progress, using data to inform instructional decisions and adapt lesson plans as needed.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and cultural awareness.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and upcoming events or assignments.
Participate in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in English language instruction and pedagogy.
Contribute to the overall success of the school by actively participating in various committees and events.
Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in English Education, or a related field.
A valid teaching certification from the Nigeria Certification Board for Education or TRCN.
A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching English language in a British educational setting, preferably at the primary or secondary level.
Strong command of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, writing and syntax.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
Strong familiarity with Cambridge and GCSE education standards and curriculum guidelines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new educational technology tools.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
A passion for teaching and a commitment to the growth and development of students.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's Degree in English or Literature, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
Experience working with English language learners or in an international school setting.
Familiarity with teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) or teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) methodologies.
Experience in curriculum development or instructional coaching.
