Job Title: Marine Engineer II - Offshore
Locations: Offshore, Akwa Ibom and Lagos

Main Function
Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by Contractors and sub-contractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with Company specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
Facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the team's goals, objectives, and procedures.
Assures accurate and timely communication among the team and other company Functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues.
In addition to technical ability, they should demonstrate sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Tasks and Responsibilities
In addition tall Level 1 tasks and responsibilities, a Level 2:
Design and oversee testing, installation, and repair of marine apparatus and equipment.
Conduct analytical, environmental, operational, or performance studies in order to develop designs for products, such as marine engines, equipment, and structures.
Prepare, or direct the preparation of, product or system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics.
Evaluate the operation of marine equipment during acceptance testing and shakedown cruises.
Analyze data in order to determine feasibility of product proposals.
Confer with research personnel in order to clarify or resolve problems, and to develop or modify designs.
Investigate and observe tests on machinery and equipment for compliance with standards.
Conduct environmental, operational, or performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.
Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted, as well as sequences and phases of test operations.
Maintain and coordinate repair of marine machinery and equipment for installation on vessels.
Inspect marine equipment and machinery in order to draw up work requests and job specifications.
Review work requests, and compare them with previous work completed on ships in order to ensure that costs are economically sound.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and verification of electronic fuel monitoring systems (eFMS) installations onboard marine vessels
Verify that eFMS are installed in accordance with established protocols.
Verify the continued full functionality of installed eFMS.
Verify that eFMS components have not been tampered with post-installation.
Ensure that all observed deficiencies are reported to the MQA Supervisor.
Conduct audits / assessments of fuel utilization of marine vessels, as directed by the MQA Supervisor.
Sound vessel tanks.
Trace pipelines and verify the integrity of fuel systems.
Validate entries made in the Oil Record Book.
Deliver technical reports on audit findings and make recommendations for improvement opportunities or other further action to supply Chain management.
Participate in sea trials and conduct infield inspections of vessels (whilst offshore) to ensure effective implementation of the vessel Fuel Management Plan (FMP)
Observe machinery and Power management System configurations utilized offshore.
Make recommendations to key vessel officers on optimal equipment configuration, in line with legislative requirements, class rules and industry best practices.
Mentor vessel key officers on the implementation of MFMBP and vessel FMP.
Liaise with OEM on technical matters regarding installation and operation eFMS.
Contribute to the continued to improvement of the implementation the MFMBP.
Participate in periodic cold eyes review.
Provide technical guidance to fuel analysts.
Participate in the preparation, review, and delivery of fuel stewardship reports to Supply Chain Management.
Provide technical support tthe MQA Supervisor in the implementation of ExxonMobil Marine Quality Assurance Best Practice and assist in the development and review of technical specifications and evaluation criteria for all types of marine craft.
Support other business functions within the Supply Chain group in the organization of UN Marine Vendor Safety forums, Vessel Key Officer Training and interface meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Marine or Civil Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience
Strong knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
Additional Skills in Addition:
Working within the Marine Quality Assurance (MQA) group, the Fuel Utilization Execution Lead provides technical advice to:
Support the effective implementation of ExxonMobil Marine Fuels Management Best Practice (MFMBP) and ensure the full compliance of all vessels in MPN service.
Ensure that chartered vessels make optimal and efficient use of company-supplied fuel, in line with local and international regulations, classification society rules and industry best practice.
Investigate reported anomalies in vessel fuel consumption and make recommendations for improvement or further action.
Knowledge, Experience & Business Accomplishments:
Bachelor's Degree, Higher National Diploma or BTEC National Diploma in Marine Engineering or related discipline.
STCW III/2 Chief Engineer (Unlimited).
Minimum 48 months overall documented sea service.
Minimum 18 months documented sea service as Chief Engineer (preferred) or Second Engineer onboard ships operating propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more.
Strong knowledge of typical vessel propulsion types including diesel-electric, shaft-generator, conventional and hybrid.
Strong technical understanding of typical OSV work scopes and appropriate machinery configurations including DP operations, static towing operations, and offshore lifting operations.
Strong knowledge of marine regulations and industry best practice.
Able to simplify and convey technical information clearly and concisely to Supply Chain management in oral and written reports.
Knowledge of marine maintenance and reliability management programs, and maintenance quality control systems.
