Our conception priority focus areas at inception were Education, Poverty and Malnutrition. Consequent to expanding needs and intervening challenges, we responded to them, leading to expansion of our areas of intervention and engagement. Although we have never lost focus, but over time, we have either been initiating or implementing (mostly in partnership or with support of donors) programs especially in the areas of Education, Peace Studies and Practice, Peace building and Conflict Management, Mediation, Promotion of peaceful elections, Gender and Disability issues, Water and Sanitation, Nutrition, Health (especially reproductive and public health), Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance, Capacity Building and Mentoring of NGOs, CSOs, CDAs, etc.

Job Summary
FAcE-PaM seeks to engage a Health and Nutrition Officer for its Catalysing Strengthened PoliCy Action for Healthy Diets and ResiliencE (CASCADE)-CARE Project to deliver the objective of healthier diets and increased resilience to price and climate-related shocks for women and children in Jigawa and Kebbi state, Nigeria.
The incumbent will support the design/review, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as knowledge management of activities relating to nutrition-specific/sensitive interventions with a particular emphasis on maternal and child nutrition, nutrition, and comprehensive nutrition services interventions (CNSI) package.
Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Health and Nutrition Officer will be responsible for technical and operational implementation of nutrition-specific/sensitive programs as well as contribute to meeting the nutrition needs of CASCADE-CARE programme participants in Jigawa and Kebbi states.
Plan, implement and monitor the Nutrition activities.
The incumbent will support the design/review, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as knowledge management of Nutrition activities.
Assist in developing and expanding malnutrition prevention activities through the promotion of Maternal Infant Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) andits Social Behavioral Communication (SBCC) Strategy awareness raising in targeted areas.
Strengthen external stakeholder engagement including communities’ local governments to strengthen nutrition programming
Work closely with Primary Health Care Centers and frontline Health Care Workers in facilitating access to Nutrition services
Support Community Management of acute Malnutrition leveraging Nutrition and Health improvement platforms
Conduct/support community and facility-level cooking demonstrations.
Project Monitoring and Reporting:
Summarize Nutrition data, conduct analysis and prepare reports to support programme reviews and informative decision-making.
Timely preparation of monthly, and quarterly reports.
Capacity Building and Coaching:
Strengthen capacity of community structures to on effective and quality nutrition service provision.
Build team capacity in Nutrition through effective guidance, coaching, training, and accountability.
Coordination and Representation:
Support quarterly coordination meetings of Local Government Committee on Nutrition and other Local Government Health actors’ coordination meeting
Facilitate monthly coordination meeting of Nutrition structures platforms at community level.
Build very good team spirit with the CASCADE-CARE programme and supporting staff at the field, and the office.
Support communication and activities with other partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions.
Technical support for Nutrition:
Participate and provide technical support during thereview of nutrition guidelines and/or manuals or standard operating procedures; as appropriate.
Provide technical support in the integration and implementation of social and behaviour change communication works across the project implementation.
Provide programmatic support and/or organize technical meetings under the guidance of the CARE CASCADE Project Manager.
Provide technical support in liaising with other sectors like food security and private sector engagement, and support partnership, and advocacy efforts to strengthen project implementation.
Requirements
University Degree/HND/ in any of the following disciplines: Nutrition and dietetics, Public Health, MBBS or a related field.
At least 3-4 year of experience in implementing Nutrition Programme.
A good experience in facilitation and supervision is required.
Experience with nutrition assessment and relevant data analysis.
3-4 years of progressively responsible experience in the nutrition Sector of NGO and/or directly related area
