Save the Slum Initiative is a non-governmental organization with registration CAC/IT/NO 139240, STSI was founded in 2016 and is committed to responding to current needs to improve the life of people living in slums and local communities across Nigeria. STSI envisions improving the living standards of vulnerable persons and communities and our overall aim is to work with urban poor to bring about long-term and sustainable transformation to their quality of life and to also provide better community-based healthcare and empowerment education and environmental improvement to all communities that will serve. We intervene in various sectors like WASH, Education, Protection, Nutrition, Health, and Livelihood of humanitarian sectors and community development projects. Since its inception in 2016, STSI have implemented in over 16States in Nigeria.

Job Summary
As a Community Volunteer, you will contribute to an innovative project aimed at revolutionizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to enhance employability and productivity among women, youth, and vulnerable groups in Nigeria.
Volunteers will engage with community members, support the implementation of gender-responsive TVET programs, and help eliminate barriers to education and employment.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach: Engage with local communities to promote the importance of TVET and encourage participation, particularly among women and youth.
Support Project Implementation: Assist in the delivery of TVET programs, including technical skills training, entrepreneurship support, and mentoring sessions.
Capacity Building: Work alongside STSI staff and partners to help upskill TVET tutors, management, and participants, ensuring a gender-responsive approach.
Awareness Raising: Participate in activities that address socio-cultural norms, policy restrictions, and logistical challenges that hinder access to TVET for disadvantaged groups.
Monitoring and Feedback: Help collect data and feedback from participants and community members to assess the effectiveness of the programs and identify areas for improvement.
Cross-Border Cooperation: Assist in coordinating efforts to exchange best practices and lessons learned with other regions and stakeholders involved in TVET.
Qualifications
Passion for Community Development: A strong commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable populations.
Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with community members and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with STSI staff, other volunteers, and community partners.
Adaptability: Flexibility in working in different community settings and adjusting to varying project needs.
Basic Knowledge of TVET: An understanding or interest in technical and vocational education and training is an advantage.
