We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title:Team Lead, Internal Control
Location: Yaba, Lagos
Work mode: Hybrid (3 days on- site, 2 days remote)
Reports To: MD/CEO
Job Overview
To Implement measure that would ensure the adherence to appropriate internal control framework and procedures so as to minimize loss from non-compliance with the policies & procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure prompt response to auditors’ requests
Continuous update of company’s bank authorized signatory list.
Ensure Daily call-over of Transaction Checks/Reviews- Underwriting (Both Life and general)
Ensure transactions processed by CPU, Claims, Underwriting and Re-Insurance are reviewed daily to identify any area of non-compliance with the company policies
Ensure prompt closure of control and audit exceptions
Device Measure that will mitigate against reoccurrence of exceptions
Ensure reports are rendered periodically based on unit reviews carried out.
Prepare quarterly Spot-Check plan and ensure that Spot-Checks reviews of non-processing are carried out in line with the plan
Ensure Security sweep on the Head Office and branches and collate reports
Ensure that all the GLs proofs and daily bank reconciliation statement are prepared and reviewed for exceptions.
Ensure only authorized users are given access to the system
Ensure that the company’s Database has a proper backup and is available when required
Ensure that all applications are certified before deployment
Supervision of the Team including on the job training
Archive/Inquiries – Review archive operations
Follow up on CPU to prepare the bank reconciliation of all the company’s accounts daily and review same to ensure compliance on removal of outstanding items within stipulated time.
Manage the investigation of reconciling items on the bank reconciliation statements with a view of resolving all issues within the target time
Monitor bank account balances on a daily basis to ensure correct balances are maintained at all times
Carry out review of monthly review of GL proof submitted by Head office Units and publish exception reports
Carry out detailed Monthly review of GL proof Submitted by various units and follow up on prompt resolution of all the exception noted
Send monthly GL and bank reconciliation exception report to management
Requirements
A good First Degree in any discipline. Masters’ degree will be an advantage
Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in Compliance & Internal Control within the financial services industry, of which at least 3 years must have been in the Insurance sector.
Professional certifications such as CFA, CIS, ACCA, ACA, CFP,CFE,ACAMS, IT Certifications, etc
