Job Summary
Responsible for the active management of all investor-facing and market engagement activities; providing the investment community with an accurate portrayal of the Company’s performance and prospects.
This includes interaction with “sell-side” equity analysts covering Oando PLC, targeted investors and “buy-side” key decision makers including activist investors and portfolio managers from investment funds. Preserving and enhancing the Company’s credibility while positively affecting the company’s value relative to that of the overall market is a key facet of this role.
In collaboration with the GM Group Corporate Development, plays a key role in defining the Company’s investor external communications strategy, key messaging, and positioning of the investment proposition for optimal impact.
Responsible for preparing senior executives for their interaction with the investment community and acting as a conduit for information from the investment community to internal constituents across the Company.
Works closely with the GM Group Corporate Development on equity fundraising activities and other strategic initiatives as may be necessary.
Also charged with supporting the GM Group Corporate Development in the corporate planning and strategy process, designing, and implementing the necessary mechanisms to track performance against long-term and near-term plans including
Develops and maintains the company’s investor relations plan and financial community database.
Leads the collection, analysis, and presentation of feedback to the company of investors’ perceptions and opinions, brokerage security analysts’ positions and summaries, relative stock price movements, and periodic ownership analysis.
Leads the execution of the group shareholder plans, Annual General meetings and Investor Days
Leads the execution of the global investor relations programmes, including strategy (linked to the company’s strategy), operating plan, budget, and the detailed execution of the IR operating plan.
Establishes the optimum type and mix of shareholders and targets activities accordingly.
Serves as a spokesman for the Company by communicating the Company’s financial and operational performance and business outlook to current and potential investors.
Manages the Company’s relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts by providing clear, accurate and confident communications
Identifies potential investors and develops a strategy to target those investors
Develops ideas for improving investor relations and increasing the effectiveness of communications with both institutional shareholders and sell-side analysts.
Provides competitor analysis and market intelligence reports to the Executive Management on a regular basis on investor activity, stock performance, peer company comparisons.
Represents the company at investor conferences, investment presentations, individual meetings, and discussions, and with the media.
Leads and drives the execution of the growth of research coverage of the Company within the sell side community.
Coordinates the interphase amongst internal stakeholders in Corporate Communications, Finance and Governance teams to ensure synergy in the delivery of the company’s investment story.
Investor Relations - Operational:
Leads the creation and preparation of all investors facing presentations and other necessary materials for the
investment community.
Analyze reports prepared by the investment community concerning comparable companies and provide
competitive intelligence to senior management
Coordinate analyst and investors meetings to provide pertinent information to the financial community.
Schedule, arrange and participate with senior management in industry and research analyst conferences, one on
one meetings with investors and security analysts, conference calls and deal/ non-deal road shows.
Supervises the research and drafting of appropriate responses to incoming questions from investors and contribute to the overall deepening of local and international market understanding and knowledge of the Company.
Leads the internal efforts on the preparation and delivery of financial results announcements (Annual and interim) and other market communications, helping to ensure key messages and highlights are clearly articulated and understood by the investment community.
Assist sell side analysts with maintaining an up-to-date analyst consensus model based on last published research (NAV and financials). Ensure and quality control regular analysis of the Company’s various trading multiples.
Develops and maintains relationships with a wide range of external advisory and service providers specializing in brokering, IR and communications.
Initiate discussions with sell side analysts to understand their points of view and demonstrate the confidence to confirm or challenge those viewpoints as appropriate.
Initiate and respond to written, telephone and email inquiries from members of the financial community interphase externally with Investors (existing and potential), Analysts, Stockbrokers, Government Agencies and service providers
Corporate Development:
Support all activities relating to merger and acquisition transactions undertaken by the Company
Leads the coordination of the Group Annual Budgeting and Strategic Planning Process.
Develop a comprehensive business plan which articulates the organization’s pre-aligned targets and communicate outcomes and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including advising to Management for feasibility of strategic plans based on thorough financial analysis
Direct the review of market & industry trends to develop business insights and evaluate the impact upon the Organization’s current and future performance
Keep track of key developments as well as best practices to continually identify new ideas, tools and trends that could provide opportunities
Identify, screen and prioritize opportunities to expand the business and isolate and focus on key risks and success drivers in prioritized opportunities
Perform regular competitive & industry intelligence analysis and communicate to Senior Management.
Oversee the research and prospect for new businesses to ensure a robust pipeline of engagements within the market
Build compelling pitch, substantiated with high-level business plan and identify potential stakeholders
Negotiate with and lock-in potential funding partners
Key Performance Indicators
Maximum 24-hour cycle feedback to investors
48-hour post results release for completion of Quarterly results release kit (i.e., Conference call presentation, script, Updated factsheet and Company profile)
Quality of Press Releases
Quarterly Investor feedback report to Management
Quarterly Interaction with the Company’s Shareholders
Quality of Analysis, findings, and recommendations
Quality, depth, and adequacy of reports/papers/ presentation/ investor facing documents/ research developed or presented internally and externally
Quality, adequacy, timeliness, and effectiveness of recommendations on company perception
Maintenance of excellent relations with investors and investment community
Preparation of annual investor calendar and IR strategy
Timely and high-quality development of business plans
Preparation of a well-articulated strategy that meets shareholder’s aspirations
Timely and accurate development of corporate performance reports vs. peers
Relevant support to GM– Group Corporate Development as the need arises.
Qualifications & Experience
1st Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or other related area
Minimum of 7 years’ combined post qualification experience working in a similar role within a listed corporate, or alternatively in a broking/capital markets advisory capacity in the financial sector.
Sector knowledge of the oil and gas industry specifically, although sector knowledge of other extractive resource industries may be considered.
Clear understanding of financial statements, capital markets, the role of IR and the oil and gas sector
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work in a consultative approach with various stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to communicate business strategies and complex financial information clearly and accurately
to a variety of audiences both orally and through written material
Ability to distill competitor results and industry conditions to determine the impact and positioning
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
Excellent people skills, with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
High degree of independent judgment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible work hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
Must be able to manage projects independently and be a self-starter
Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a desire to produce top level results.
Excellent managerial capabilities with strict attention to details.
Willingness to Travel at short notice 50% of the time.
