Job Overview
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and quality control activities on construction or engineering projects.
This role ensures that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards and specifications.
The QA/QC Engineer will work closely with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to identify and resolve quality issues, conduct inspections, and maintain quality documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of quality management systems and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Control:
Develop and implement quality assurance plans and procedures for construction projects.
Establish quality control processes and standards for materials, equipment, and construction activities.
Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
Inspection and Testing:
Conduct inspections and tests on materials, equipment, and construction processes to verify quality and compliance.
Review and approve material and equipment submittals, ensuring they meet project specifications.
Perform site inspections and quality audits to assess workmanship and identify any deviations from the project requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed and accurate records of quality inspections, tests, and audits.
Prepare and submit quality reports to project managers and senior management, highlighting any quality issues or non-conformities.
Document and track non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
Issue Resolution:
Identify and investigate quality issues, defects, and non-conformities.
Work with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure that all quality issues are resolved promptly and effectively to prevent recurrence.
Quality Improvement:
Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Recommend and implement best practices and process improvements to enhance quality performance.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality training programs.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Stay updated on industry best practices, standards, and regulatory changes.
Provide guidance and training to project teams on quality standards and procedures.
Supplier and Subcontractor Quality:
Evaluate and assess the quality systems of suppliers and subcontractors.
Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to improve quality and resolve issues.
Health and Safety:
Ensure that quality control activities are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Report any safety concerns or incidents related to quality activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a QA/QC Engineer in construction, engineering, or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and practices (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME, ASTM).
Experience in conducting inspections, tests, and audits on construction materials, equipment, and processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in using quality control software and tools (e.g., QA/QC management systems, MS Office).
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma).
Experience in [specific industry relevant to the company, e.g., oil and gas, infrastructure, manufacturing].
Familiarity with specific quality standards and codes relevant to the industry (e.g., ISO, API, ASME).
