Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS) is an International School with high educational and learning standards children from 18months through to 16 years+. The school day begins at 8am with a short break around 10am and a longer lunch break just after 12pm. School closes at 2:40pm with the option of an after school club till 3:45pm. Job Title: Global Perspectives and History Teacher

Job Summary
The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching students both Global perspectives and History; this will involve guiding students through a comprehensive exploration of historical events, global issues, and diverse perspectives. S/he should have global awareness and a commitment to preparing students for an interconnected world
Job Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive curriculum for both Global Perspectives and History and ensure both are aligned with international standards and the school goals.
Provide engaging and interactive lessons that encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and a deep understanding of historical and global issues.
Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, learning, and student engagement.
Administer assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
Adapt methods and materials to meet the learning needs of our diverse students, including those with varying academic abilities.
Work closely with sectional heads and colleagues to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
Implement the school’s learning policy and ensure the procedures for assessing, recording, and reporting students’ progress are maintained.
Safeguard and protect the welfare of children and every young person.
Initiate and lead extracurricular activities related to history or global issues, such as debate clubs, history clubs, or global awareness events.
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and any concerns.
Participate in continuous professional development programs to stay current with best practices in education and global perspectives.
Ensure all teaching practices comply with school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Attend PTC and all sectional and general staff meetings.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in History and any relevant field.
IGSCE Certified or equivalent certification.
Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an added advantage.
At least 5 years of teaching experience in the Secondary section of an International school or multicultural environment, with not less than 2 years in a school that uses the British curriculum.
Proven experience teaching Global perspectives and History at the Secondary level and preferably in a school setting.
Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Proficient in integrating technology in the classroom
Able to resume at school (Ikoyi) by 7:30 am
