Job Title: Janitor / Cleaner
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Responsibilities
Clean and Sanitize Public Areas:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all public areas, including the lounge floor, entrance, hallways, and restrooms.
Dust and wipe down surfaces, such as tables, chairs, counters, shelves, and decorations.
Clean and disinfect high-touch areas, like door handles, light switches, and handrails.
Maintain Restrooms:
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and counters.
Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.
Report any maintenance issues, such as leaks or broken fixtures, to the management.
Manage Waste Disposal:
Empty trash cans and recycling bins regularly and dispose of waste properly.
Ensure that trash cans are clean and lined with fresh bags.
Separate recyclables from general waste according to the lounge’s waste management policies.
Maintain Cleanliness of Lounge Equipment and Furniture:
Clean and maintain lounge furniture, including chairs, couches, tables, and bar stools.
Spot-clean upholstery, carpets, and curtains as needed.
Clean and polish metal fixtures, glass surfaces, and decorative items.
Handle Spillages and Stains:
Quickly respond to and clean up any spills, stains, or accidents to prevent slips and falls.
Use appropriate cleaning products and techniques to remove stains from carpets, upholstery, or flooring.
Perform Deep Cleaning Tasks:
Conduct periodic deep cleaning of areas like kitchenettes, storage rooms, and less frequently used spaces.
Clean windows, mirrors, and glass partitions both inside and outside.
Shampoo carpets, wax floors, and polish surfaces as needed.
Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:
Follow safety guidelines when using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, or aprons.
Report any safety hazards or potential risks to the management immediately.
Assist with Setting Up and Tidying Events:
Help arrange furniture or set up areas for special events or gatherings.
Clean up after events, including removing trash, vacuuming, and wiping down surfaces.
Replenish Supplies and Equipment:
Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify management when restocking is necessary.
Ensure all cleaning tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any damage or malfunctions.
Collaborate with Staff:
Coordinate with other staff members, such as waiters and bartenders, to ensure smooth operations and maintain a clean environment.
Respond promptly to cleaning requests or emergencies from staff or management.
Key Skills Required
Attention to detail and thoroughness.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Basic knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude.
Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and stand or walk for long periods.
Job Qualifications
Previous experience in a cleaning or janitorial role is preferred but not always required.
Basic knowledge of safety and hygiene standards.
Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written and verbal.
Salary
N60,000 - N70,000 monthly.
