Western Development Company Limited (WDCL) is an independent limited liability company, established in Nigeria for over 13 years ago. WDCL is the sole representative of various overseas companies in the fields of Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Collect and review logs of equipment parameters, and identify equipment deviation outside normal operating parameters.
Participate in the preparation of work method statements, risk assessments and job hazard analysis
Specify personal protective equipment (PPE), and appropriate documentation and prepare a Permit for work activity.
Carry out site preparation tasks in readiness for maintenance activity.
Identify and stage materials, equipment spares and tools for equipment maintenance.
Verify isolation of energy sources in preparation for maintenance work
Execute routine maintenance activities in line with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and company standards.
Troubleshoot and analyze equipment faults using diagnostic tools, test devices and measuring instruments.
Support OEM field service representatives during the execution of major equipment maintenance activities.
Conduct proper housekeeping and restore the work site safely after job completion.
Identify critical spares for ordering ahead of planned maintenance activities
Review equipment performance data post maintenance work and update equipment maintenance records
Perform reviews of operating/maintenance procedures and maintenance job routines.
Analyze maintenance effectiveness and productivity, propose changes to existing practices, and develop and implement improvement actions.
Support planning of mechanical scope of major / turnaround/milestone maintenance activities.
Participate in equipment failure investigation (root cause analysis) and apply causal learning to problem-solving
Propose solutions to address the causes of undesirable equipment performance.
Support the development of credible look-ahead plans for work activities
Comply with site HSE practices and procedures.
Participate in HSE meetings and promote site safety campaigns
Close out all other assigned actions in line with audit findings.
Academic Qualification
Possession of any of the following Qualifications:
HND in Engineering from accredited Polytechnics or Monotechnic
B.Eng./B.Sc./B.Tech in Engineering from an accredited University or College

Work Experience:
Minimum of eight (5) years of relevant professional engineering experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
A four (4) year fieldwork experience within SPDC East Asset operations will be an added advantage.
Skills:
Must possess the following competencies
Maintenance of Rotating Equipment – Gas & Diesel Engines, Gas Turbines, Reciprocating & Centrifugal Pumps, Gas Compressors, Air Compressors, Blowers etc.
Knowledge of pumps, engines, compressors and other rotating equipment used within the oil and gas industry
Evaluate and interpret equipment performance and integrity data
Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions and take appropriate corrective action
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve common faults on rotating equipment
Plan and conduct maintenance activities in line with recognized procedures and standards
Apply approved procedures and standards for disassembly and reassembly of rotating equipment components.
Plan and conduct major inspection and overhaul of equipment
Use of the appropriate tools and equipment
Execute condition monitoring activities using appropriate diagnostic tools
Support equipment shutdown, start-up, isolation and reinstatement as part of the maintenance process.
Static Equipment Maintenance:
Identify the various types of static equipment within the oil and gas industry
Provide support during inspection activities i.e removal and reinstatement of static equipment
Carryout inspection of filters/strainers and valves
General:
Knowledge of basic mechanical tools and workshop machinery.
Interpret machinery/equipment information from drawings, diagrams and technical manuals
Knowledge of alignment of shafts, couplings, belts and pulleys on equipment
Soft Skills (Added advantage):
Computer literate, ability to perform basic computer-related activities
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of worksite hazard management and permit-to-work systems
Effective team player and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Work Cycle:
The work location is field-based in swamp terrain located in Soku, Rivers State.
Work schedule is 21 / 21 days duty cycle.
Work activity period spans 12 hours (7 am to 7 pm) routine over the 21-day duty period.
Work activity may extend beyond the normal period depending on business needs.
