Job Title: Farm Setup Manager

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Farm Setup Manager to oversee the establishment of a new farm from the ground up.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in farm planning, operational setup, and management, as well as a strong understanding of agricultural best practices.
This role requires a hands-on individual with the ability to develop and implement systems, manage resources, and drive the successful launch of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
Farm Planning & Design:
Work closely with the farm owner to determine the scope, vision, and goals for the farm.
Develop detailed farm layout and design plans, including infrastructure, crops/livestock, equipment, and resource allocation.
Research and recommend the best farming practices and technologies to suit the farm’s specific needs and location.
Infrastructure & Equipment Setup:
Oversee the construction of farm infrastructure such as barns, irrigation systems, fencing, storage facilities, and roads.
Ensure the procurement and installation of appropriate farming equipment and machinery.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective setup of facilities.
Crop/Livestock Management Setup:
Select appropriate crops and/or livestock based on climate, soil conditions, and market demand.
Develop and implement planting schedules, grazing plans, or livestock housing and care protocols.
Establish systems for soil health, pest management, and crop/livestock monitoring.
Resource & Budget Management:
Develop and manage budgets for the farm setup, including labor, equipment, and operational costs.
Ensure efficient use of resources, including water, energy, and fertilizers, in line with sustainable practices.
Track expenses and provide regular reports to the owner on project progress and costs.
Hiring & Training:
Assist in the recruitment of farm staff, including laborers, technicians, and supervisors.
Provide training and guidance to ensure the team is equipped to manage the farm post-setup.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that the farm meets all local and national regulations, including health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and agricultural laws.
Oversee the proper licensing and certification of farm operations as required.
Project Management & Execution:
Manage the timeline and deliverables of the farm setup project.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure the project stays on track and addresses any challenges.
Evaluate and adjust plans as needed to ensure the successful launch of the farm.
Qualifications
Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Proven experience in farm setup, management, or related roles.
In-depth knowledge of agricultural practices, farm infrastructure, and equipment.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and financial oversight.
Familiarity with sustainable farming practices is a plus.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
