Job Description
The Milk Collection Specialist - Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) will work under the supervision of the Milk Collection Center Manager to drive the efficiency and quality of milk collection and processing in the center.
The MCC specialist will be responsible for the business targets of the center, these targets include and are not limited to the volume of milk collection and supply to the processor, optimization of the equipment, and so on.
S/he will ensure that the center runs at the level of standard dictated in the standard operating practice manual.
Program / Practice / Department Overview
TechnoServe’s Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) aims to build a precision, sustainable, and productive local dairy value chain in Nigeria within 4 years in a way that increases the incomes, resilience, and carbon footprint of dairy farmers in Nigeria.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
Oversee all equipment and infrastructure (solar panel borehole, solar water heater, milk reception tanks, and others) and ensure they function optimally, and schedule timely and routine preventive maintenance where applicable.
Facilitate and monitor the transportation of fresh milk supplied by the dairy farmers and mini farms to Danone Fan Milk’s plant according to standard operating procedures and compliance.
Work with the MCC quality specialist to properly analyze fresh milk supplied by the dairy farmers daily.
Document and update the quality and quantity of fresh milk received from the dairy farmers and mini-farms, and supplied to Danone Fan Milk’s plant weekly.
Ensure timely preparation of monthly reports according to prescribed guidelines and format and share with the MCC manager.
Prepare and share with the accounts payable team a weekly schedule of payments to the dairy farmers for fresh milk supply.
Support the dairy productivity, and feed and fodder teams of the BuPreDMiN project by providing continuous feedback on the quality of milk supply and interactions with the dairy farmers.
Manage the relationship between the MCC and all the milk suppliers in a way that not only attracts more suppliers to the centers but ensures retention of these suppliers.
Carry out monthly town hall meetings with stakeholders.
Carry out any other duty that the MCC manager may assign.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economic, Business administration or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a dairy milk collection center or a food or FMCG retail outlet.
Alternatively, a master’s degree with at least 1 year experience.
Demonstrated experience in financial and inventory management
Experience in working in rural communities in Nigeria.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate data to a non-technical audience
Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders.
Requirements:
Required Languages: Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
Travel: 10%.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Proven skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
Strong written and oral communication skills and experience producing clear and concise reports.
Fluency in English is strongly preferred as well as proficiency in Yoruba or/and Hausa language.
