Job Summary
This position will be report to APIN Molecular Lead and State Lab Lead on technical and programmatic issues and will provide programmatic guidance in the planning, implementation and monitoring of molecular laboratory services for the RELIANCE project.
He will support the integration and optimization of molecular laboratory services for the efficient delivery of VL, IVT/EID, HIVDR, TB, and other diseases of public health importance.
He will ensure the establishment of a learning culture, and coordinate the documentation and dissemination of programmatic reports, success stories and lessons learned.
Responsibilities
Provide programmatic support and implementation sustainable Molecular Laboratory services.
Develop strategies and work plan for effective functioning of the Lab and availability of resources for the Lab operation.
Support capacity building efforts of molecular diagnostic services.
Support the Laboratory in the implementation of risk assessment to all aspect of the laboratory; aimed at identifying risk to the clients and opportunity to improve the system.
Support the implementation of Biosafety and Biosecurity, IPC and General workplace safety.
Support for the design, implementation and monitoring system to assure an efficient documentation of lab documents and records.
Ensure implementation processes for the identification of non conforming events, implementation of remedial and corrective action.
Provide effective leadership aimed at ensuring all APIN supported personnel and other resources are managed for providing quality services.
Provide advisory services.
Support programming, calibration and performance verification of PCR equipment.
Support effective utilization of molecular Lab equipment, application, care, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
When required, ensure storage and shipment of samples in accordance to regulations.
Maintain personal expertise in PCR laboratory practices and emerging automated methodologies and technologies.
Assist in the development and adaptation of required guidelines/standards for related laboratory services.
Provide support for the functionality of all laboratory information systems and linkage to EMR.
Prepare progress reports of laboratory activities, lab program implementation and lab quality issues.
Prepare reports and representations as required by Management.
Perform any other official task as may be assigned by supervisor or Management
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in implementing Public Health programs preferably in the NGO context.
Experience in a molecular laboratory would be an added advantage.
