Job Objectives
We are currently recruiting for the role of an operations/production manager for our client in the plastic manufacturing industry.
The Operations/Production Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the operational success of the manufacturing process, combining strategic vision with hands-on leadership.
The ideal candidate will lead the production team in meeting tight deadlines, upholding quality standards, and optimizing resources, all while maintaining high levels of operational efficiency.
With a deep understanding of injection molding processes, this individual will be a key player in ensuring that our production facilities operate smoothly and deliver on all performance metrics.
This role requires a seasoned professional with experience in managing large production environments and a track record of continuous process improvement, team leadership, and production optimization.
Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize production processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Work closely with the Managing Director to develop and execute long-term strategies that drive efficiency and innovation within the production unit.
Oversee daily operations, ensuring seamless production processes, high productivity, and consistent quality output.
Production Management & Efficiency:
Lead and supervise the entire production team of over 100 staff, creating a high-performance culture and fostering a safe and collaborative working environment.
Optimize production schedules, ensuring delivery timelines are met without compromising quality or cost efficiency.
Utilize deep expertise in injection molding to troubleshoot issues and continuously improve manufacturing processes.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
Implement Lean Manufacturing principles, eliminating waste and enhancing workflow efficiency.
Drive process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, minimize downtime, and maximize productivity.
Utilize data-driven methodologies (such as Six Sigma) to analyze production performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions for sustained operational improvements.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Establish and maintain quality control systems, ensuring that all products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Partner with Quality Assurance teams to troubleshoot defects and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Resource Management & Cost Control:
Effectively manage the allocation of human and material resources, optimizing labor productivity and material usage.
Monitor and control budgets, working with procurement to negotiate and manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing of raw materials.
Develop comprehensive reports on production metrics, including KPIs, budgets, and performance indicators, and present findings to the Managing Director.
Leadership & Team Development:
Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability, motivating teams to exceed production goals while maintaining a focus on employee well-being and safety.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure continuous skill development and professional growth within the team.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 7 years in a senior production or operations management role, specifically within injection molding or related manufacturing environments.
Proven ability to manage large-scale operations and lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence frameworks.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a track record of delivering cost savings and productivity improvements.
Demonstrated success in managing production teams of over 100 employees.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to senior management.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
Professional certifications in Lean Six Sigma or other operational improvement methodologies will be a distinct advantage.
