Overview
The Safety Officer for Electrical Construction Sites is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on electrical construction sites by implementing and overseeing safety procedures and protocols.
The role requires a strong understanding of electrical construction practices, regulatory standards, and safety management.
The Safety Officer will work closely with site personnel to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure all safety procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards and electrical codes.
Keep up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and incorporate them into site practices.
Training and Education:
Provide safety training and orientation for new and existing employees on electrical safety practices and emergency procedures.
Conduct regular safety meetings and drills to reinforce safety protocols and address any concerns.
Incident Management:
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training sessions.
Site Inspections:
Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify any potential hazards.
Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment are properly used and maintained.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of safety inspections, training records, incident reports, and compliance checks.
Prepare and submit regular safety reports to the Safety Manager or Project Manager.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and construction workers to promote safety awareness and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Collaborate with external agencies and inspectors as needed.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred.
Qualification: B.Sc / HND with 3-5 years experience and NEBOSH IGC/HSE LEVEL 3, First Aid Certified, CPR Certified, Fire Safety Certified.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, safety regulations, and risk management principles.
Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to conduct training and present safety information effectively.
Other Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of all engineering calculations in detail.
Experience of EPC Project - Transmission Line and Substation.
Knowledge of Autocad, STADD.Pro and other relevant software, MS Office.
Knowledge of Project Design Time Scheduling.
Good command over oral and written communications.
