The Commercial Sales Manager in Freight Forwarding is responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy to increase market share and revenue for the company's freight forwarding services.
This role involves managing a sales team, identifying new business opportunities, fostering relationships with clients, and achieving sales targets.
The position requires a deep understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and international freight forwarding services.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue growth in freight forwarding services.
Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform business decisions.
Set annual sales targets and KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
Business Development:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets, including lead generation and prospecting.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Negotiate and close deals with potential clients, ensuring profitable growth for the business.
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team, providing guidance and support to achieve sales targets.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the sales team.

Client Relationship Managemen:
Serve as the primary point of contact for major clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring the smooth delivery of services.

Pricing & Contract Negotiation:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., legal, finance) to finalize agreements.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments that may impact the freight forwarding business.
Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management, providing insights into business performance.
Adjust sales tactics as necessary to address changing market conditions and client needs.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with other departments, including operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure a seamless experience for clients.
Work closely with the marketing team to create promotional materials, sales campaigns, and customer communication strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure all sales activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies, including customs regulations and trade laws.
Identify and mitigate risks related to contracts, pricing, and service delivery.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales or business development within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Experience in managing a sales team.
