Job Title: Manager - Salaries Compliance and Regulatory

Mission
Take ownership of all MTNN’s Salaries processes, Payroll operations, Payroll reporting, Statutory PAYE remittances, reporting, and analytics for disclosure purposes, and ensure the integrity and correctness of all payroll related matters adopted.
Ensure the payroll processes adopted for all MTNN affiliates and subsidiaries align with the overall goals of the business and ensure there is no disconnect in the recognition and reporting of emoluments and benefits in line with relevant standards.
Lead all plans for the valuation for all MTNN staff retention and reward schemes, with clarities on the basis of differentials and the financial impact of the valuations. Also provide insight into the impact (especially financial) of proposed reward schemes before deployment.
Lead engagements on statutory and internal audits, compliance checks, and interaction with regulators (ITF, NSITF, SBIR, FIRS, etc.) and ensure MTN does not incur fines or is penalized for any infringement.
Description
Support shareholder returns by collaborating with MTN HR rewards team to collate, analyze, review, and process all financial information derived from all payroll processes and valuation exercises for the purpose of deriving staff costs and emoluments presented in the financial statements and adopted for planning and forecasting purposes.
Reflect each staff emolument and rewards under the appropriate cost class and ledger accounts in line with extant accounting standards and reporting nomenclatures.
Support the Financial reporting team to ensure the Audited Financial Statements (AFS) correctly reflect the total employee emoluments as actually incurred and provided for.
Work with stakeholders and the project team to develop cost-effective and value-adding solutions needed for accurate reflection and speedy completion of payroll processes required for reporting processes.
Implement all necessary policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all staff-related costs and emoluments are accurately tracked, processed, and reported under the relevant cost centers, divisions, and account classes.
Process all staff entitlements as guided by HR Rewards team in a timely manner, devoid of errors.
Support the drive for optimality with regards to headcount aspirations by recommending an appropriate structure be adopted.
Lead in innovation and change processes that can ensure improvements in all salaries and payroll processing functions.
Coach and mentor team members to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the team or unit, awareness of all related job requirements and accountabilities, and leverage human resources career development programs for staff career development.
Identify, evaluate, and track the development needs and performance of the team, providing opportunities for staff to build on the company’s investment in their training and improve productivity.
Education
A first degree in accounting or any other numerate discipline; a second degree will be an advantage.
Must be a chartered accountant.
Fluency in English and the language of country preferable.
Experience:
6–13 years’ experience, which includes:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor in any payroll-related area of specialization, with experience in supervising/managing others
Experience working in a medium- to large organization.
Experience in payroll management or other significant financial management experience would be an advantage.
A blend of customer relations, administrative support, interfaces on audit related tasks, engagements with external parties on statutory matters, and tax experience is desirable.
