The Resource Mobilization Officer for Migration will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure financial and non-financial resources for the Organization's migration-related programs and initiatives.
This role involves identifying funding opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with donors and partners, and ensuring that resources are effectively utilized to support migration-focused projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in resource mobilization, a deep understanding of migration issues, and excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Key Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of this include but not limited to:
Resource Mobilization Strategy and Planning:
Develop and execute a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy focused on supporting Organization's migration programs and initiatives.
Identify and research potential funding sources, including grants from international organizations, government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors.
Design and implement resource mobilization campaigns to raise awareness of migration issues and attract support for migration-related projects.
Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management:
Establish and nurture relationships with potential and existing donors, including public and private sector organizations, international agencies, and philanthropic entities.
Write high-quality grant proposals, funding applications, and sponsorship requests tailored to the priorities and interests of potential donors.
Develop and manage donor stewardship plans to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction, including regular updates on program progress and impact.
Have regular communication with donors, prospective and established, while working closely with the Organization's Communication Unit to coordinate inputs to external events and opportunities
Support the Chief of party in identifying representational events with the potential for meaningful donor interaction. Provide proactive and timely advice to senior management on strategic interaction with individual donors.
Migration Program Support:
Collaborate with migration experts and program managers to design and develop community-based programs and initiatives that address the needs of migrants, refugees, and displaced persons.
Support the effective implementation of migration programs, ensuring that activities align with project goals and donor expectations.
Develop and oversee systems for monitoring and evaluating migration programs, including tracking progress, measuring outcomes, and reporting results to donors and stakeholders.
Marketing and Communication:
Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to promote migration programs and raise awareness about migration issues.
Create engaging content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, to highlight migration initiatives and attract support.
Represent the Organization at migration-related events, conferences, and community meetings to promote migration programs and build relationships with stakeholders.
Financial Management and Reporting:
Develop and manage budgets for migration programs, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and in accordance with donor requirements.
Prepare and submit financial reports to donors and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
Oversee the administration of grants, including tracking expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant agreements, and reporting on grant outcomes.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct research to identify trends in migration funding, donor interests, and partnership opportunities.
Collect and analyze data related to migration needs, donor engagement, and program effectiveness to inform resource mobilization strategies and improve program outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Public Administration, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is desired.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or program management, with a proven track record of successful grant writing and donor engagement, preferably within the migration or humanitarian sector.
Strong understanding of migration issues, including the challenges faced by migrants, refugees, and displaced persons, and relevant policies and practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals, create engaging content, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with donors, partners, and community organizations.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software, fundraising databases, and online marketing tools.
Experience in marketing, public relations, or communications is a plus.
