Service Description
Ensure HSSEQ Compliance: Ensure all welding activities comply with HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality) standards and promote a safety-first culture on-site.
Enforcing Shell and IOGP (International Oil and Gas Producers) HSE (Health Safety and Environment) policies and procedures at Company worksites.
Review Welding Procedures: Review detailed welding procedures, specifications, and instructions developed by the EPC contractor to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Ensure Technical Assurance: Provide technical assurance for all welding-related deliverables during the Detailed Engineering Design phase, ensuring they meet project specifications and quality standards. Respond to technical clarification and queries from contractor.
Manage Welding Qualifications: Oversee and verify welding qualification tests, including Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welder Qualification Tests (WQT), and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Conduct Welding Inspections: Perform and oversee welding inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure weld quality and integrity.
Review and Approve Welding Plans: Review and approve welding plans and procedures submitted by the EPC contractor, ensuring they are robust and meet project standards.
Resolve Welding Issues: Address and resolve welding-related technical queries and issues during design, procurement, fabrication, and installation phases.
Interface Management: Manage interfaces between welding activities and other project disciplines, including Subsea Hardware, FPSO, and Umbilical systems.
Conduct Technical Reviews: Participate in technical reviews, including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews, providing expert input on welding-related matters.
Maintain Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with the latest welding technologies, industry standards, and best practices to ensure the project utilizes the most efficient and effective welding methods.
Provide Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to project personnel and contractors on welding-related issues.
Oversee Contractor Performance: Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors' welding activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Document Control: Ensure all welding documentation, including reports, certificates, and records, are accurately maintained and readily available for review and audit.
Champion Quality Assurance: Promote and enforce quality assurance practices throughout all phases of the welding operations to achieve high standards of workmanship and reliability.
Support Installation Activities: Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases, ensuring welding activities are completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
Responsible for safe, timely and efficient execution and drive progress of work scope based on project schedule.
Work with Contractor to ensure quality issues are properly identified, documented, reported and timely dispositioned.
Author and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly status, progress, and site reports.
Liaise with internal stakeholders i.e., Quality, HSE, project control, engineering disciplines, planning, etc. to ensure adequate support for project execution.
Log and track lessons Learned during the detailed design and manufacturing activities within the Package.
Requisite Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years work experience with at least 10 years relevant experience in welding engineering, with a focus on pipeline and structural welding in an upstream Deepwater or similar environment.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline, with professional registration.
Extensive experience in developing, reviewing, and approving welding procedures, specifications, and instructions.
Proven experience with welding qualification tests, including Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welder Qualification Tests (WQT), and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Proficiency in conducting and overseeing welding inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
Good understanding and application of Industry standards and codes for welding (DNV, API, ASME, etc.).
Knowledge in use of MS Office tools or similar software
Ability to communicate, work, interface, interact and influence effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals located globally.
