Job Summary
The Communication Officer is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s communication strategy.The position requires a person who has understanding of the development space, who is spirit-filled, committed to the kingdom’s mandate, able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, works well under pressure, thinks strategically and acts proactively.
This role involves a wide range of responsibilities including public relations,publications,digital media management,and graphic design.The ideal candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations:
Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance the organization’s image and reputation.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets.
Draft press releases,media advisories,and other communication materials.
Manage media inquiries and crisis communication.
Publications:
Develop and manage the production of publications,including newsletters,annual reports,event reports, and brochures.
Coordinate with photographers, videographers, designers and printers to ensure high-quality production.
Distribute publications to target audiences.
Digital Media Management:
Manage the organization’s website and social media platforms.
Develop engaging content for online platforms.
Monitor online conversations and respond to inquiries.
Utilize analytics to measure the impact of digital campaigns.
Design and Multimedia:
Create graphic designs for various communication materials.
Produce high-quality photos and videos for use in publications and digital media.
Edit and produce video content.
Email Marketing:
Develop and execute email marketing campaigns.
Manage email lists and subscriber data.
Track email campaign performance and make necessary adjustments.
Publicity and Dissemination:
Coordinate publicity and dissemination activities for the organization’s programs and events.
Develop communication materials for events and campaigns.
Measure the impact of publicity and dissemination efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications,Journalism,Public Relations,or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications or a related field.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g.,Adobe Photoshop,Illustrator, Canva).
Experience in video production and editing is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills:
Experience in the NGO or non-profit sector.
Knowledge of SEO and content marketing.
Experience with content management systems (CMS).
