Job Title: Senior Safety Manager III
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Regularly review and update safety policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations and industry best practices.
Risk Management: Identify potential safety hazards and conduct risk assessments to develop strategies for risk mitigation. Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other relevant safety regulations. Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
Training and Development: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including orientation, refresher courses, and specialized training. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures. Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to senior management.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including drills and simulations. Coordinate with emergency response teams and ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
Incident Management: Manage safety-related incidents and provide guidance on incident response and resolution. Maintain records of safety incidents and track performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the safety team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide support for professional development.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) are highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in safety management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or leadership role.
Skills:In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs and training.
