Job Title: Resource Mobilisation Officer, Environment and Climate Change
The Resource Mobilisation Officer for Environment and Climate Change will spearhead efforts to secure resources for our Environment and Climate Change programs.
This role involves strategic planning, donor engagement, proposal writing, and program support to advance our Environment and Climate Change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of this include but not limited to:
Resource Mobilization Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive resource mobilization strategies to support environmental and climate change programs and projects.
Identify potential funding sources including international donors, government grants, private foundations, corporate sponsorships, and individual contributions.
Design and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives that align with the organization’s environmental and climate change objectives.
Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain relationships with donors, including environmental foundations, government agencies, corporate partners, and philanthropic organizations.
Prepare high-quality grant proposals, funding applications, and sponsorship requests that address donor interests and align with AYGF’s environmental and climate goals.
Have regular communication with donors, prospective and established, while working closely with AYGF’s Communication Unit to coordinate inputs to external events and opportunities
Support the Chief of party in identifying representational events with the potential for meaningful donor interaction. Provide proactive and timely advice to senior management on strategic interaction with individual donors.
Develop and implement donor stewardship plans to ensure sustained engagement, satisfaction, and support for environmental and climate change initiatives
Environmental and Climate Change Program Support:
Collaborate with environmental and climate experts to design, plan, and develop effective programs and projects aimed at addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
Provide support for the implementation of environmental and climate change programs, ensuring that initiatives are carried out effectively and meet established objectives.
Develop and manage systems for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes, preparing reports for donors, and using feedback to enhance program effectiveness.
Marketing and Communication:
Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to promote environmental and climate change programs, raise awareness, and attract support.
Create engaging content for various communication platforms, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, to highlight environmental programs and achievements.
Represent AGYF at environmental and climate change events, conferences, and community meetings to build relationships, advocate for environmental issues, and promote programs.
Financial Management and Reporting:
Develop and manage budgets for environmental and climate change programs, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and in accordance with donor requirements.
Prepare and submit detailed financial reports to donors and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
Oversee the administration of grants, including tracking expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant agreements, and reporting on grant outcomes.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct research to identify trends in environmental and climate change funding, donor interests, and partnership opportunities.
Analyze data related to environmental issues, donor engagement, and program outcomes to inform resource mobilization strategies and improve program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, International Development, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is desired.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or environmental program management, with a proven track record of successful grant writing and donor engagement.
Strong understanding of environmental and climate change issues, policies, and trends, with the ability to translate this knowledge into effective resource mobilization strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals, develop engaging content, and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and community organizations.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software, fundraising databases, and online marketing tools.
