Summary
The legal department provides legal advice and support to the company, ensuring that all real estate transactions, contracts, and operations comply with legal requirements.
The team handles a wide range of legal issues, including property acquisitions, leases, zoning, environmental compliance, and litigation.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management:Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to property acquisitions, sales, leases, and other real estate transactions.
Ensure that all contracts comply with legal requirements and protect the company's interests.
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the real estate industry and ensure the company's compliance.
Advise on zoning laws, land use regulations, and environmental laws.
Due Diligence: Conduct legal due diligence for property acquisitions, including title searches, zoning verifications, and environmental assessments.Identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution:Manage and oversee litigation involving the company, including property disputes, contract disputes, and other legal matters.Work with external legal counsel as necessary.
Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, shareholder agreements, and compliance with corporate bylaws.
Ensure that the company's corporate activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Risk Management: Identify legal risks associated with the company's operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Advise management on legal risk management and provide training to staff on legal issues.
Transactional Support: Provide legal support for property transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures.
Assist with closing processes and ensure all legal documents are properly executed.
Policy Development: Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
Provide training to employees on legal and compliance matters.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support the company's operations and decision-making.
Stay updated on legal trends and developments in the real estate industry.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the state bar association.
Minimum of 1 year of legal experience, preferably in real estate law.Strong knowledge of real estate transactions, property law, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
Skills and Competencies:
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
Proficient in legal research and legal writing.
Familiarity with real estate market trends and business practices.
Working Conditions:
Office environment with occasional travel for property site visits, meetings, and court appearances.May require extended hours to meet deadlines and handle urgent legal matters.
Salary
N100,000 Monthly.
