The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operational functions of the company.
This position encompasses strategic planning, execution, and management of various business areas including operations, projects, administration, human resources, business development, quality control, health and safety, and other critical functions.
The Operations Manager will ensure alignment with the company's overall strategies and goals, driving efficiency, profitability, growth, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Planning:
Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's long-term business goals and objectives.
Lead the formulation and execution of comprehensive plans to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Drive strategic initiatives to improve overall performance, profitability, and sustainability of farm operations.
Operational Oversight and Coordination:
Oversee and coordinate all farm operations from planning through execution, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with strategic goals.
Ensure efficient deployment and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime.
Manage procurement and inventory functions, aligning them with business strategy to ensure cost-effective and timely availability of resources.
Financial Management and Business Development:
Collaborate with the Finance team to achieve targeted financial results, including sales, profitability, and cash flow management.
Lead business development efforts to expand market reach, identifying new opportunities and fostering strategic partnerships.
Oversee budget preparation and implementation, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and operational needs.
Human Capital and Team Leadership:
Provide strategic oversight of human capital management, ensuring the recruitment, development, and retention of high-performing personnel.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development, implementing training and development programs to close skills gaps.
Drive employee engagement and performance through effective leadership, communication, and performance management practices.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate operational risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management functions, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Implement robust systems for monitoring and reporting on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective actions.
Executive Leadership and Decision-Making:
Actively participate in executive decision-making processes, contributing to the development and execution of company-wide strategies.
Collaborate with senior management to create, implement, and refine operational processes, reporting systems, and company policies.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization, fostering a unified approach to achieving business objectives.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field.
MBA from a top business school is preferred.
3-5 years of operations management experience, preferably in poultry production or processing plant operations.
Proven experience in budget preparation and implementation.
Strong understanding of the poultry agribusiness value chain.
Exceptional business acumen, executive presence, and presentation skills.
