Job Description

• Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lawyer to join their dynamic team.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate and commercial law and excellent litigation skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research and provide analysis on various legal issues.
• Keep abreast of legislative changes and advise on implications for the company.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review legal opinions, memoranda, and correspondence.
• Represent the company in court cases, arbitration, and other legal proceedings.
• Coordinate with external counsel on litigation and other legal matters as required.
• Ensure the company’s operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to mitigate legal risks.
• Provide legal advice and support to various departments within the company.
• Advise management on legal rights, obligations, and risks.
• Ensure proper corporate governance practices are followed.
• Assist in the preparation of board materials and minutes of meetings.
• Handle disputes and negotiations with external parties.
• Facilitate alternative dispute resolution processes when necessary.
• Conduct training sessions for staff on legal and compliance matters.
• Stay updated on legal trends and best practices, and disseminate this knowledge within the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B); Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years post-call experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• High level of integrity and professional ethics.
• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian laws and regulations.
• Experience in corporate law, commercial law, and litigation.
• Familiarity with compliance and risk management principles.
• Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
