Job Title: Human Resource Manager

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Overview

  • The Human Resource Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the organization'smission, managing recruitment and employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of this include but not limited to:
HR Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Create, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and support the organization'sgoals.
  • Forecast and plan for the company’s current and future workforce needs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process to attract, hire, and retain qualified candidates.
  • Design and conduct comprehensive onboarding programs to integrate new employees smoothly into the company.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in hiring practices and throughout the company.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs to enhance workplace morale and productivity.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and promote a positive work environment through effective communication and problem-solving techniques.

Performance Management:

  • Implement and oversee performance appraisal systems, ensuring regular performance reviews and feedback.
  • Develop and monitor employee development plans to enhance performance and career growth.
  • Design and implement recognition programs to reward high performance and motivate staff.

Training and Development:

  • Assess training needs across the company and develop training programs to address skill gaps.
  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions, workshops, and seminars to build staff capacity and competency.
  • Support career development initiatives and succession planning.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Oversee salary administration and ensure competitive and equitable compensation structures.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, and keep abreast of changes in employment legislation.
  • Conduct regular HR audits to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment.

HR Information Systems (HRIS):

  • Implement and manage HRIS to streamline HR processes and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Generate and analyze HR data reports to inform decision-making and strategy development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPM, CIHRM, PHRI etc) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in human resources management, preferably within the NGOor related industry.
  • Demonstrated success in an NGO environment is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources Metrics.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems.
